    NFL Fines gone crazy.....

So the NFL fined 4 Eagles players in the amount of a total $150k approx and Dunta Robinson $25000 for writing "Pay Me Rick" on his shoes. But they chose to not fine the fat bastard that plowed into Donovan, when the play was whistled dead, and he was in the EZ with the referee signaling a TD.

Are you serious?! People get fined for celebrating and writing shit on their shoes, but when it is an obvious late hit, the dude gets nothing.

I know its football, and people get hit. But if you are going to fine players, there has to be some sort of uniformity in the rules/guidelines for chrissakes.

NFL fines = Pirate Code. There is not accountability or uniformity of the enforcement of the fines.

You missed my point........I dont care about how much money they lose. But the fines are supposed to be a deterrent for repeated behavior. If a player doesn't get fined for a blatant late hit, what kind of message is that?

You're right. I just never seem to care about fines.

What pisses me off is the protection they are giving QBs. The ludacris horse collar fines, and the blasphemous helmet to helmet that is accidental the majority of the time.

          Here we go again...

The NFL has strict uniform guidlines, and if you break them, you will get fined. There is plenty of "uniformity"and rules & guidlines that outline this, yet these players keep breaking those pretty simple rules.

Then the fans bitch and cry about it, for reasons I don't understand. Is it your money? Does your enjoyment of the league suffer because guys cant write on their shoes, or wear those stupid colored visors? Who cares.

If you take one second to think about why the uniform guidlines exist, you can understand what the league is doing. It's a slippery slope if they loosen up the uniform standards. Not to mention protecting the sponsers.

The McNabb hit is a seperate issue, so I won't comment.

My point was to illustrate the discrepency on enforcement and the rules that guide it. If we have strict uniform codes for what the player wears. Why aren't there strict rules and guidelines for late hits?

Case in point, same weekend Trent Edwards gets taken down, on a perfectly normal hit, Wilfork gets called for roughing the passer. But McNabb was clearly down in the ENDZONE with the ref signalling a TD and the DE's 300 lbs fall right on top of him. And the NFL deems it a legit hit, are you kiddin me?

I want to make this clear, my issue isnt the fact the NFL is No Fun League, when it comes to uni's and celebrations. My issue is that, they wasted time fining and reprimanding players doing that, instead of setting officiating rules when it comes to QB protection and late hits. Come on guys, roll with me here.

I thought it was funny and ironic the Pats got called for the Brady rule.

                    QB penalties are ridiculous.

Fines should be % based not flat xxK fines. A rookie getting fined 25000 is a HUGE hit compared to some multi millionaire. Only one is going to be deterred.
Best reason to have a license.

Players should never get fined. It's not there fault. It's the coaches fault for not coaching and teaching them correctly.

                      Only coaches should get fined!!!!

Yeah but i dont think i would make a topic about fining players and complaining about the hit. That's just me though.

I used the Edwards hit as an example too, to display the inconsistency. Coincidence is that McNabb is involved. I don't care if the QB is hit while attempting a pass, honestly, he's on the field playing football, and he's still in play.

But when its quite obvious that the player is down, and then you jump on him, thats what my problem is.

This is the problem. You see the same problem in the NBA when they suspend people and there's no consistency.
