Favre: Peterson best RB hes ever seen ?

Paraphrasing via NFL live....but he basically stated Peterson is better than any RB hes ever seen. "No disrespect to Payton" was thrown in.

Considering how many times Emmitt mauled the packers , how many times they faced Barry , and apparently was a huge fan of Payton thats saying something.

Unless of course hes just gassing up "his" RB.

    Thoughts ?

peterson is the truth, but to say he is better than payton is a bit premature.

Better than those 3 guys is too early to say. If he lasts this long we will see in 8 or 10 years.

Hes def the best RB Favre has ever had tho.

true , But id be hard pressed to think of a time Favre called dubbed anyone else the greatest anything. Again considering who he played against routinely I find it surprising.

Peterson fumbled twice while I read through this thread.

So yeah, no. Brett is just talking up hi teammate, which is perfectly fine.

All he said was he is the best running back he has ever seen.

It's a bit premature because Favre has only played with the guy for like a month now, but Adrian Peterson is the best running back I have ever seen.

I've seen Emmitt and Barry Sanders, never got the chance to see Walter Payton. Nobody I have ever seen runs like Adrian Peterson. Barry and Emmitt were amazing (moreso Barry), but Adrian Peterson is just a freak the likes of which I've never seen before at that position.

I was under 5 years old when Bo Jackson played so I don't really remember watching him live but my dad says the two are similar.

Let's be clear here, Favre isn't saying Peterson is the best running back of all time and neither am I. He is just saying he's the best he's ever seen.

If anything it is definitely arguable and a statement that can be made, I think anyone over the last 15-20 years would find it difficult to name even 5 running backs more impressive than Peterson when carrying the rock.

While I think AD is a fantastic and elite runner , hes not that much different than Eric Dickerson.
Not the pure runner Barry was , not anywhere near the workhorse or complete package like Payton/Emmitt.

w2b points out a major flaw. Minny coaches should be kicked for not breaking habits that cause turnovers.

If you want to see what Bo Jacksons career woulda looked like watch Herschel Walker , there identical. Insane straight ahead speed bulldozing power but neither had any moves and both were easy to hit.

To be fair Favre was drunk and/or doped on on painkillers for most of Barry and Emmitt's prime seasons...

so wouldn't that make them look more amazing?

Barry was Killing Emmitt in all areas except catching, Barry hands were like they were made of butter when it came to that. AP is the epitome of a full load RB and the trip out thing is that he shares carries. If AP played back then He'd be killing those records becuz the only team to split carries were the Bears of the 80's and if you dont know why kill yourself. AP imo is better than Emmitt was.

Barry did what he did playing with virtually no offensive line and really not too much offensive help... Could've broken the Record wayyyy before Emmitt

Emmit did what he did (not taking anything away from him) with One of the Greatest Offenses in football history. If you stopped him you let Irvin have his way and vice versa

AP splits carries, was injured and still broke 1000+, and never really had any help....

                              He'll be in the HoF
