Whats the first stat you look at ?

Whenever looking up a particular guys stat...just wondering if theres a single stat you find yourself looking at most. Or that you find most telling.

When looking at season stats for current players I usually do the normal YD TD...but when looking at older or comparing players these are the ones I tend to focus on.

    QB-- Comp %
    WR-- YPC
    RB-- TDs

They always seem to give me a quick glimpse at that style of player and what type of system they were in. Ex most guys in a WCO have higher comp% ...so when I see guys like McNabb or Vick I shutter when I see some of there comp%'s. To no surprise watching those guys would reveal some atrocious and inaccurate stretches.

Jamarcus Russells 35% comp %, 2 weeks into the season , 3 years into his development is downright scary.
Best reason to have a license.

Like the first thing I general glance at is

      QB: qb rat
      HB: yds
FB: either yds or rec, just to get an idea if they were an 'offensive' fullback like L.Centers, or just a blocker.
      WR: catches
      DL: sacks
      LB: tackles
      DB: Ints
      K: Pct
      P: avg
      KR: avg
      PR: avg

QBs - a little of everything, but to be considered elite, he must have postseason success.

My top 5 is for the elite.

My bottom 5 is for those guys trying to get there.

But anyways, when comparing players I'll look at every stat and make a judgement. For running backs, I look at their offensive line and then look at their stats.

The same, all the way down the line.

For QB's, I also look at W-L record almost immediately.

                        QB-TD/INT ratio, W/L ratio

                        RB-Yds, then Y/A and TDs

                        WR/TE-Yds/TDs

                        ILB/DT/3-4 DE-Tackles, then sacks

                        DE/3-4 OLB-Sacks, then Tackles

                        DB-Interceptions

QB-INT ratio is the most important stat for QBs IMO. YPC is the most for RBs, and for WRs I look at both the receptions and the YPC.

Defense is pretty self explanatory, it goes sacks/tackles/ints depending on if it's a DL, LB or DB.

I actually focus on the situational stats to see how guys play and to see if their numbers are inflated in any way. One thing I always check for in quarterbacks though is yards per attempt. after that, I look at at situational stats first for all players.
