IRVING -- Cowboys left tackle Flozell Adams was fined $7,500 by the NFL for trying to kick Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers in Monday's game. Adams has been fined $25,000 for on-the-field infractions this season.
Adams' agent, Jordan Woy, said they will appeal the fines.
Adams was fined $5,000 in the season opener against Tampa Bay for unnecessary roughness and $12,500 for kicking Giants defensive end Justin Tuck in the knee and attempting to trip fellow end Osi Umenyiora. Tuck injured his shoulder on the play.
"He didn't mean to kick anybody," Cowboys offensive line coach Hudson Houck said. "What happens is when you get out of balance, and you try to get your body over as best you can. That happens at times. We don't teach it and he doesn't try it. I tell him. 'You got to get in balance and get your body in the right position.' "
Tuck said after the Giants game that Adams' move was a cheap shot and that he's done it for years.
"He's not that," Houck said when asked if Adams was a dirty player. "He's big and it looks awesome, like he could be, but he's not ... not at all. That's ridiculous, he's not even close."
