The Irish offense still has problems finishing off drives. Part of that is playcalling, part is execution. Clausen could have easily dumped it off to Tate for the 1st on one drive instead of throwing into double coverage in the endzone, and calling lateral moving zone run plays (as opposed to just running straight at the defense) caused another FG. ND could have put this game away or at least had a comfortable lead otherwise. Clausen's backward pass was a real headscratcher too.

Also, Clausen has ice in his veins. He's been asked to lead drives down the field to take the lead late in the fourth quarter in every game but the opener this season, and he hasn't buckled yet. This team as a whole has showed a lot of heart this season, which is something that Weis has failed to instill in his teams previously.

I'll take Clausen over Locker. Locker certainly has the athleticism, but he's lacked the coaching up to this season.

Clausen has been clutch this season, and he's a very accurate passer. He's taken a big step forward from where he was this time last season.

Despite beating Washington, I will officially say Jimmy Clausen is a good quarterback. Not top 5, but he's somewhere around there. He earned a lot of respect from me today.

If Jake Locker's receivers could catch the ball on 3rd and 4th down in OT, then we would be talking about how clutch he was.

Perhaps, but at the end of the day, his receivers didn't come through. That's certainly not a knock on Locker, but that's how things panned out. Again, I'll say that Washington would be a much better team if the players had been getting any semblance of coaching during the past few seasons.

Notre Dame gets 24 karot gold painted on their helmets the Friday before every game. Whenever there is multiple helmet to helmet contact during games it flakes off and you can usually see it.

I was at the game and I can officially say that was as close to 2005 USC loud as its gotten since that game. I can't keep going to Notre Dame games if they keep winning like this though, I'll die.
