Loudmouth WR's can learn from Rev. Ike

Found this throwaway line looking through some pregame stuff on the Rams/Niners game.

Isaac Bruce says he's happy even though he has only 10 catches through three games and no 49ers wide receiver ranks among the top 58 players in receptions.

Bruce: "I'm pleased with the progress (of the team). I'm happy. I never was the type to be crying for the football. I'm happy."
It is entirely possible to play WR, be a professional, do your job, put the team first, and still have a HOF career.

You might even play in a few SB's and make a game winning catch in one.

He's also respectful of his peers. When the Rams were thinking about signing Cris Carter earlier in the decade, Bruce offered to give up his #80. When Jerry Rice offered his own retired #80 to Bruce when he signed with the Niners, Bruce declined.

Steve Smith is just like this, it's a pleasure to have guys like this on your team... For some reason wide outs of this decade have to be loudmouth, I don't get it..

Having Mike Martz calling the plays may help a bit with the HOF career.

Figures a retard like you would think I was talking about the guy who gets suspended and has ridiculed his quarterback all season. There's another Steve Smith in the league just to let you know.

Bruce is a class act. One of the most unheralded WRs in NFL history too.

Yeah, lucky for Bruce, Martz ran his routes and caught all of his passes for him, too.

sidenote-i've noticed something over the years. Praise Bruce, Holt, Warner, etc, and you get the moronic shit posted above "Pfft, Mike Martz system".

Praise Martz, and you get: "Pffft, anyone can call plays for Bruce, Holt, Warner, Faulk...."

Martz proved himslef as a playcalled without these guys, and all of these guys proved themselves as players without Martz. Just stop already.

And it figures a guy like you would be comparing some unestablished slot WR to a hall of famer like Isaac Bruce.
Of course I thought you were talking about Carolina's Steve Smith.
I assumed you were comparing great receivers, not some could be, might be to a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

And while I laugh at Smith's antics for Carolina, the guy is a hard worker and a good pro ... he just has anger management issues. I would take Smith in a heartbeat if I was an NFL coach.

Yeah, and I think that;s the issue....had he been a loudmouth his career may have actually garnered more respect. I'm not saying what guys like TO do is a good thing, but we certainly are aware of his statistics, whereas a guy like Bruce is often forgotten. Actually until I clicked on the thread I had no idea who "Ike" was. Then I was like "oh, Isaac Bruce."
