Braylon Edwards is whats wrong with athletes

If it wasnt more obvious that this guy was completely coasting in Cleveland then it was tonight I dont know what is. Jets fans should be excited cause they got a good WR when hes focused, but its painfully obvious he had no interest in trying in Cleveland, and for that, he is a giant piece of shit. Sorry Browns fans..

I don't think that makes him a POS at all. It makes him human.

Everyone has had a job where they were miserable and probably didn't care how they performed. Athletes are no different.

You could argue that you can't compare playing in the NFL to punching the clock at the saw mill or sitting in the cubical. Our good friend AllOutBlitz used to say that all the time.

There is a big difference between making $40k, mailing it in at the office, and taking your sweet time handing in those spreadsheets, and making millions of dollars to play a game, and not giving maximum effort.

It's bush league, and Braylon Edwards is the kind of guy I wouldnt want around my team.

It's hard to be miserable when you're making millions of dollars.

I think that guys do just need a chance of scenery sometimes. Look at all the guys who have been traded and are now reaching their full potential:

                    Orton
                    Benson
                    Edwards
                    Winslow
                    Moss (everyone knew this one)
                    Antonio Bryant

It's funny how a change of scenery can be all the difference in the world for these guys. The system really matters as well, obviously.

But I think the idea is that certain players dog it. Edwards & Moss from your list, for sure. Guys like Orton & Benson weren't dogging it, and fit more into the change of scenery idea you are talking about.

Look around the league, and you see a guy like Steven Jackson, killing himself and busting his ass playing for a team that has 5 wins in 3 seasons. Jake Delhomme, Calvin Johnson, so many others, you see these guys playing hard in losing situations, and you see the pain in their faces when they lose.

Then you see guys like Moss when he was in Oakland, and he clearly didnt care. Same with Edwards.

Yeah but they arent being paid 10s of millions of dollars to try to help a team.. to help a frachise.. to help a whole damn city win football games. IMO it just isnt comparable to your everyday worker being stuck in a dead end job. Its a privilege to be in the NFL and get paid that kind of money and to blatantly not put forth effort makes you a piece of shit, IMO, and a thief, too.

Sure some guys need a change of scenery but the EFFORT should always be there. I dont think anyone is really going to argue that Braylon wasnt putting forth much of that in Cleveland.

Quoted for fucking truth. You get paid millions of dollars to work your ass off.. not coast through games that actually mean something to people other then your selfish ass. Braylon isnt the only player guilty of this either, thats for sure.

moss did it in oakland, braylon in cleveland, Ownes is doing it in Buffalo... it is just the culture. there is a huge disconnect with these guys as far as team play goes. to them the money they get is owed to them, not earned.

                              Cowboys suck,

with that out of the way,

I never really thought Braylon was playing to his full potential. Yea, he didn't give his best, but what can you do? Teams are still going to want him because they think they can "change" him. If the Jets start losing, he'll go back to his old ways. Same as Moss, same as TO, same as every other player who only gives his best when the team is winning.
