NO, but to call out Braylon and not the millons of people that do the same thing, but don't get paid is Bullshit.
Braylon Edwards is whats wrong with athletes

And I respect you for that. So why cant Braylon Edwards do the same? All im asking for is effort, there is no excuse for not putting forth that bro.
And we both know that athletes are in the spotlight.. the public eye. Shit they do is on display for all of us. I guess I could call out everyone who doesnt put forth effort at their job but this is the NFL discussion forum, not the Joe Blow bum ass employee forum bro.Last edited by Kuzzy Powers; 10-13-2009, 06:36 PM.Comment

Cleveland was not going in the right direction, Edwards wanted out and Mangini gave him what he wanted for something he considered equal-ish value. Do i condone dogging? No, but these guys are human and for the most part, young.
Edwards needed a new change of scenery to get his head back together, he obviously wasnt trying in Cleveland since they are doing poorly on offense. Of course your going to suffer when your qb changes from DA and Quinn back and forth.
SMH @ people who think that he has to suffer to be on the Browns just because he's gotten a big paycheck from the Browns.
Edwards does not control whether or not he goes 100%, it's his job to play as hard as possible because he is being paid to do that.
Kuzzy, have you ever held a job that you hated? If so, was it in the same profession your in now?Comment

Juggernaut I can honestly say ive put forth effort at each and everyone of my employers.
How anyone can feel its ok not to put forth effort.. ESPECIALLY when a whole city is relying on you is pretty foolish IMO. You can compare real life schmoes to athletes all you want but it simply isnt the same thing IMO. For 16 weeks a year, 1 day a week, Braylon is paid to perform. You cannot perform without effort. You do not make a payscale of 5.5 million without performance. Dogging it week after week is not tolerated in real life and it shouldnt be tolerated in the NFL, either.
We got some real understanding people on this board..

I think that guys do just need a chance of scenery sometimes. Look at all the guys who have been traded and are now reaching their full potential:
Orton
Benson
Edwards
Winslow
Moss (everyone knew this one)
Antonio Bryant
It's funny how a change of scenery can be all the difference in the world for these guys. The system really matters as well, obviously.Comment

I can understand Braylon, at least he didnt stop playing. He was still their number one guy even after he was playing, at what, 60% of his skill level? The Browns didnt do shit to help him out, i dont understand why he has to be the only party trying to make things work.
So its ok for every member of the team to do the same, then? Sounds like a great attitude towards helping a franchise win.Last edited by Juggernaut; 10-13-2009, 06:47 PM.Comment

I never even came close to remotely saying hes the only party that has to try to make things work.. but he has to do his part doesnt he? I dont got no respect for overpaid athletes who cant even put an effort forth. If you're going to be a player first player then play for yourself and put an effort forth for yourself, dont just go out there and rob a franchise of a paycheque every year when theres millions of fans and 50+ teammates expecting you to atleast try come Sunday.Comment

I think he did try to make it work, he didn't out right stop playing and demand a trade and refuse to play till he got traded.
How is he going to play for himself when the organization is in shambles? He doesnt know who his starting qb is, his runningback is on his last legs, no 2nd wr to get pressure off, AND they trade his friend Kellen Winslow for picks.
i dont like the fact that he's dissapointing the fans, yet i have to see things from his viewpoint, Braylon Edwards > the Fans. The only person you can be angry at is the head coach for not keeping the players in line. Romeo/Mangini allow their players to bitch and moan till they get traded, most good coaches wouldnt trade their star players away just because their acting like a bitch. See Anquan Boldin. He wanted to be traded, coach said no, end of story.
(Not that great of an example, Boldin still gave 100% effort but it's the closest WR type problem)
Jay Cutler comes to mind Kuzzy.Comment

I dont think Cutler ever lacked effort tho. That guy played his little diabetes heart out last year.Comment

I think you guys are underappreciating how bad Trent Edwards and the Bills playcalling is. I still think TO has it in him to be a playmaker, you dont lose that so quickly (he still had it last year, undeniable), and having a QB who isnt afraid to throw the ball more then 10 yards would definitely be of benefit for him. Hes on a one year contract and theres virtually no risk, I really dont see a down-side.
If T.O gets traded to the Bears for a 3rd and 5th, would you be pissed at T.O for not trying harder to make things work in Buffalo?
(I know this seems kinda random, and isnt that great of a arguement, yet i do want to see your opinon on this matter)Comment

How is this comparable to effort? I never said Braylon doesnt have it in him to be a playmaker, I said the guy flat out isnt trying. I never even said the Jets made a bad trade or that it was high risk. Infact, his performance on Monday was the inspiration for the thread.
I already said this in chat and ill say it again here.. I dont think TO falls in line with this because to me he actually looks like hes still trying out there, hes just not succeeding. What im asking for is effort.. im not going to call TO the hardest worker but I see some form of effort there when I watch the Bills weekly. That being said TO could easily just flat out stop trying in a week and id call him a piece of shit for that, too. But IMO TO WANTS the ball.. he WANTS to do well, I dont think Braylon could give a fuck if his team won, lost or drew in Cleveland aslong as he was getting a cheque.Last edited by Kuzzy Powers; 10-13-2009, 07:33 PM.Comment

How does dropping the ball have anything to do with playcalling? If you are dropping wide open catches (which he was) the playcalling clearly did it's job by getting the ball in your handsLast edited by Archer; 10-13-2009, 07:41 PM.Comment
