Rush Limbaugh dropped from the group trying to buy the Rams
If Rush said that Dr. King's assassination was a great thing along with slavery, it would have been a huge scandal, but there's be audio tape of it, because it's total BS.
Rush did say that McNabb was being given the benefit of the doubt by the press [he was having a mediocre start to the season that year] because the press roots for black QBs. Limbaugh on ESPN was a bad idea, just as Olbermann being on Sunday Night Football is a bad idea. Sports is my escape, and I don't to hear or see political opinion makers when i'm trying to chill.
Quick correction:
He said that shit in the pre-game show for Week 1 of 2003.
Calling black athletes "thugs" has been suspect at best. A lot of people recognize this and have pointed it out. Rush comparing NFL games to bloods and crips fighting is gonna cause problems. He knew, that's why he threw in the "there I said it" at the end. He should've learned his lesson after ESPN dropped him over the McNabb incident, but he didn't and continued saying borderline shit. Now it's come back to bite him and he wants to blame it on Obama's America. Shits pathetic. He'll probably say something else dumb in the future, and to the NFL he's not worth the risk.
He dug his own grave and no one should feel sorry / make excuses for him.
first off, thats rush's job to say those things and to provoke reactions. whats even funnier is that the liberal leaning owners dont want him in their boyz club becasue he is a republican.
Secondly, when people do thugish shit, IE beating their significant other, driving drunk, going to a club and acting the fool, dog fighting, they get labeled with the term thug. it is not a black and white thing, it is a right and wrong thing.

First of all, NFL owners are staunchly Republican, so playing the liberal card doesn't work here. Most of the owners have made large contributions to Republican candidates and only a couple owners (if that) even contributed to Obama.
Secondly, the problem with using the word 'thug' regardless of proper usage is that stupid people run off with it and take it to mean something else. For some it has become a codeword of the n-word.
Living in St. Louis, I've heard numerous times people calling Rams RB Steven Jackson (not a troublemaker) a 'thug' over something trivial such as the music he wants played pre-game during the stadium, but when you ask why, they hesitate or say something stupid like 'he has dreads'. When Ronnie Belliard played for the Cards, you had people calling him a thug because he wore his hat different and sported a skull cap for his cornrows. Not because of his demeanor or behavior, but simply his appearance.
That is what Killa Pand and me are talking about.

you are offically an idiot. thug is not the new word for n1gga or n1gger, it is the word used to describe a perosn who acts like an idiot. why is that you cant see that balck people, espcecially atheletes can be wrong? it is not a question of race with this word, it is a question of right and wrong. beating your wife/girlfriend is thuggish. if a black guy beats his wife/girlfriend he is thug, if a hwite guy does it he is also a thug. thug is just the modern day temr for fuck up or miscreant, race has shit to do with it. the fact that 90% of the nfl players are black is why it seems to you that it descibes black people, because inthis case it does describe a small group of balc people within a larger communtiy of black people. wake up and stop trying to call shit racist when it isnt, break free from jeeese jackson and his gay lover al shaprton.

St. Louis itself is a great place for the most part, but there are some suburbs that surround St. Louis and other parts of Missouri that you want no parts of if you're a minority.

Why do you say dumb shit for no reason? You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
Like Noble pointed out it's gotten to the point where players who don't even have legal problems are called a thug.

Great post. Same shit happens in NYC, brothas(pro athletes and average guys) being called thugs by some fucktards based on appearance alone.

Did you completely overlook the second half of my post?
