What do you think about Matt Schuab?

    *totally un-biased thread*

He leads the LG in both TD's and yards and is 4th in QB rating.

I think it's hard for people to look at him as an elite QB because he's never been to the playoffs and he plays for the Texans. If you look at the other QB's people generally view as the best.......Both Mannings, Brees, Brady, they all play for teams that are pretty much shoe-ins for the playoffs and can compete for the superbowl every year.
Yes Johnson is a top 2 WR and Daniels plays like a top TE, but the Texans as a whole aren't considered better than the Colts,Giants,Pats,Saints etc...

So right now at this moment, in this season would you consider him a top 5 QB or what? I always get mixed comments about him, some idiot the other day tried to tell me he sucked despite the fact he was leading the LG in TDs.

You just said the Saints are shoe-ins for the playoffs and contend for the Super Bowl every year. Wow.

And Schaub's doing great this year, but can he keep it up is the question.

        I wouldn't count him as a Top 5 QB, Top 10 though

I agree with this. One big thing about him is he seems injury prone, maybe that's not his fault though. He's having a good year, but his numbers are skewed a little cause of his team's late bye week.

True never thought about that but he's still 3rd or 4th in yards per game.

I don't know if you can factor in the part they don't have a running game. I mean on one hand he gets more chances to pass and it's the only way they can get yards and on the other hand it's harder to pass when you have no running game. Usually QB's in that situation get less yards PAssing.

haha Owen Daniels has been his key guy IMO. Yes A.J. has the biggest most explosive plays but Owen Daniels is becoming his go to WR on any given random down.

But without A.J. Defenses will crack down harder on the other receivers so we'll see.

Peyton Manning is the "true" statistical leader in all of those categories. Peyton had a bye, averages 313 yds/game (about 20 more than Schaub per game) and only has one less TD than Schaub.

Anyway, I'm not giving Schaub a number until he finishes out this season. I need to see him an entire season to say what he is.

If he can finish the season healthy and get the Texans into the playoffs, i would put him in the top 10 QB discussion.

Helps that Nick Harper was covering Andre Johnson all game.

Anyways...I think Schaub is a very good QB, probably in that 6-10 range. He's got to continue to prove himself to get into that top 5 range and make the playoffs here once in a while. He's always been a talented quarterback, he's just never healthy.
