How much of the Giants struggles can be attributed to the loss of Plaxico Burress?

They were touted as the toughest team in the league at the line of scrimmage on offense and defense for the last 2 years.

They lose their 6'5" WR and their rushing statistics have been cut in half.

Smith, Hicks, and Manningham are decent receivers but let's not kid ourselves, none of them need to be doubled like Plax.

I honestly don't think that's the main reason they're struggling. I really like Steve Smith - he may not be as physically imposing as Plaxico but he's a better route runner. He's top 10 in the league imo.

That plus the injuries to our secondary, and d-line. Losing Phillips for the season was devastating, and I don't know what's going on with Ross.

Reid and Coughlin both got too conservative. Took there teams out of legit chance to win there games.

Warner ,5 tds with less than 260 yards passing ?
Thats pretty crazy. Thats some really porous defense.

As I said in game thread...its remarkable how many people come out of the woodworks to bash Romo after the Giants game....yet are nowhere to be found after this Eagles game.
Both were on SNF and if the Giants was a "big game" this was more so.

Texans are to Colts as Miami is to NE. Maybe its all in my head but it sure seems even when they win handily Houston give the Colts fits.

Eagles and Giants are never out of it till all those X and Ys are filled out. I can laugh now but those 2 teams know how to win with there back against the wall. Im not counting them out.
Best reason to have a license.

Fox passes up the 59 yard FG attempt (despite having a long range K on his roster for this type of scenerio) and goes for it. The odds of converting 4th & 8 are probably about the same as hitting the 59 yarder, so why not try it? The end result of failing is exactly the same, but the success isnt. A successful FG ties the game, yet converting guaruntees nothing. You either need to try the FG, or punt. Going on 4th should be the last option.

-Carolina gets the ball back down 10, and with :40 left from inside the Saints 10, Fox RUNS THE BALL. What!?

-To compound matters, he goes on 4th AGAIN, instead of taking the FG and making it a 7 point game, thus extending the game.

I hate when coaches do this. YOU NEED THE FG AT SOME POINT. Kick the FG, and leave yourself time to get the TD if you recover the onside kick. EXTEND THE GAME. The Falcons did this last Monday, and nearly pulled it off. Most coaches kill all of their time trying for the TD, and either lose on downs, or have no time for the second score. Kick the FG, and keep the game alive.
Pretty much this. It was aggravating to see them run the ball so much when they needed some quick points. Delhomme has finally started to look better and he was hitting guys on the drive so I don't see why you don't put the ball in his hands. I'm pretty disappointed because its going to take a miracle for Carolina to get into the playoffs and we have finally started to look like a decent team. At least if Jake keeps having decent games we wont look like idiots for giving him that contract extension.

This year, the Ravens are .500 and losing to the Bengals. They still have to play the Steelers twice, a team they lost to 3 times last year. Not exactly the stuff of AFC North Superiority, no?

Their defense is depleted...their secondary has been destroyed by injuries. Webster is a good CB, Thomas has stepped up but not having Ross, Phillips and starting guys like C.C. Brown hurts the Giants. If they were healthy, they would have nice depth.

On offense, it seems many feel that Jacobs isn't running as good as he did last year and that doesn't help the Giants woes. I think at WR, they are fine. Smith seemingly knows how to get open and Nicks soon will be the #2 WR, he just makes plays.
