That sucks. 'Cause the 'do is super-gangsta, even if it is the Bengals. lol. Really, though. Like, I might not do that with Oakland because I already have a Raider house-key and a Raider jacket... But, still. I think that's tight.

As far as the topic at hand, I do not personally agree with the suspension but I agree that the school even did anything at all because like I said, regardless of the fact that this is a public domain, rules still need to be enforced and it is a waste of the school's time to decide each case individually. If they were to actually decide every single individual case, they would be spending more time doing that than teaching. Therefore, you set a blanket rule and regardless of the nature behind the offense (such as this kid and his parent's decision to allow him to get a haircut commemorating the Bengals), the school needs to enforce the rule.

Otherwise, you open the flood gates for more students to keep testing the rule.

And like I said, this may be a public domain but rules still need to be entact and enforced or else chaos ensues. Don't like the rules, go be homeschooled.
Or how about we just ignore harmless haircuts and focus on the fact that our public education system is shit. They certainly aren't doing this kid or the other students any favor by suspending him from school, and there's a ton of more important issues they could be focusing on.

Give him a fucking break. Also, lol @ the kid that is saying he'll be 27 and living with his parents for a fucking haircut.
It not because of the "fucking haircut". It for the "fucking parents" that are keeping this home from school. U don't like the school's regulations? Go through the proper channels. Keeping this genius home playing call of duty all day I'm sure is 10x better than actually going to school.

Why can't this start at home? Why can't his parents focus on his education instead of something as frivolous as this.

It's really not a big deal. Shave your head, go to school. Unfortunatly this kid has parents that are on the same maturity level as this 15 year old kid.

Because maybe his parents think the rule is bullshit. Do you just submit to every rule regardless of whether or not you agree with it? Maybe this is their way of protesting, while at the same time teaching their kid to stand up for what he believes in. Them refusing to comply got this story more attention which may end up forcing the school to change the way it does things.

It's corny as hell for them to suspend a kid because his haircut distracts other students. How do they measure whether or not it does and to what extent?

I colored my hair a crazy color in the 6th grade. Sent me home and made me color it back to normal.

Its a silly rule. Distraction? How? It was no more than a, "Oh cool hair." And move the fuck on. Its not like people jumped out of their seats and ran to my desk to touch it.

Now, the kid refusing to fix it. Thats stupid. You need to be in school.

I agree that the haircut is not that bad. If I felt that strongly about it as a parent, I would approach the principal or the school board for an explanation. If it wasn't handled to my satisfaction, I'd try and find alternative schooling. However, while this is going on, his head would be shaved and he would be attending classes.

When the principal first heard of the situation, he said, "What, this child wants to stand out from his classmates and be an individual?? Hell ta tha naw, son!"

Well, that goes both ways...it's good to teach a child to stand up for something he believes in, but it's also good to teach him how to pick his battles. This is a pretty pointless fight.

My question...if he shows up with his head completely shaved, how does the school react? Is that considered possibly gang related? If not, why not?

because if you don't rebel once in awhile you sooner or later will not have he ability to rebel... Everyone needs to be put in check, and this frivolous rule that some principal dreamt up one night shouldn't be allowed. One it's middle school kids are still figuring out what lifestyle path they will take. It's not a distraction more than anything else... You want kids to focus more, take away any usage of electronics during school or @ school...
