Jon Gruden Sign Exclusive Extension With ESPN

LOL...does ESPN really need another person involved with their NFL draft coverage? I thought the Kiper-McShay doucheoffs were sufficient.

He doesn't really do that anymore. That's kind of what I expected from Gruden but he's turned into an NFL kiss ass.

Maybe ESPN is trying to create the next John Madden. Gruden already meets four of the criteria: Super Bowl winning head coach, former Raider head coach, hyper color guy, and his name sounds like "John Madden". Now he just needs a catch phrase like "Boom" and he's all set.

I would suggest "Bam", but I think it is still under copyright to Emeril.

Not much with the extension. ESPN won't come forward with details of the extension, but, there is an easy out for him after January if he wants. Not saying he'll leave, but, the extension is simply some window dressing for added leverage in negotiating with schools/NFL teams.

if you want critiques, you look at post game stuff. internet , newspapers etc.

In game is for promotion. Its amazing you people still bash tv people who are saying for the most part what they are told to say or how they plan to spread out the pro/con between announcers as they planned ahead of time. Its all premeditated fodder and you take it too seriously.

if these people sucked so bad as you in general like to say ,they wouldnt have been hired. and they wouldnt be making thousands, possibly millions, to do it.

Don't forget about stumbling through everything he says.

Yeah, that's really all it's come to, he's put analyzing the game to the side so he can blurt out "Man, Rex Ryan is one heck of a defensive coordinator, he can really out think the offense"... Thanks Jon.

Your standards are way too low... there are great announcers out there that put the MNF guys to shame. Michaels and Colinsworth for one are both REAL good at balancing praise, talking about the game, critiquing different aspects all the while staying neutral and not screaming over the game (ala Gus Johnson).

Collinsworth is a monotonous smug asshole. The only thing I hate more than his delivery and voice is his face. Michaels is one of the best ever, though.

Gruden is entertaining to listen to because he is amusing. Yes - like a clown amusing. He says off the wall shit and has some weird/funny sayings and his excitement and his personality make the broadcast much more entertaining.

But, as others have said (and I've said on here a few times already), he is in love with every good player out there. I seriously think he wants to fuck Drew Brees after watching the Saints/Falcons MNF game.

I've already hurt him say "so and so is the best..." at least 4 or 5 times this year:

"Ronnie Brown is the best big quick running back in the league!!"

"Thomas Jones is the best goalline back I have ever seen!!"

"Peyton Manning is the best quarterback I have ever seen!!"

"Drew Brees is the most accurate quarterback in the league!!"

"The Pittsburgh Steelers remind me of my favorite GUY of all time - Mariano Rivera!!!"

"LeBron James is the best offensive weapon I have ever seen!!!"

At first I thought his ass kissing was annoying and ridiculous but now I'm glad he is going to be around for a while, he makes me laugh a few times a game because he is batshit crazy and it's great.

His love and passion for football [players] is so creepy that I now look forward to hearing him suck off a pro-bowler every Monday night.

20 bucks says Gruden says something involving the words "DeSean Jackson/Devin Hester, FLY!!, JETS!!, SERIOUS SPEED!!" and "I have ever seen!!/In the league!!" next Monday night.
