People use the words cocky and arrogant as if they are bad attributes.

I want my QB and my Head Coach to be both.

The "fag" just screams of jealousy.

There's a difference between Confidence and Arrogance.

one who's confident is respectful and doesn't have to be an outright asshole to show that he's confident in his abilities. Laughing at a players prediction that you'll only score 17 in the superbowl is a sign of arrogance, not even scoring 17 is even worse.

You never see Manning do that.

Billy B is Billy B, at least he doesn't pretend he's a person of good character and the media doesn't label him as one.

I am still stunned that people will look for ways to defend this call. I think by far the worst argument though is the whole "if you go for it you don't have to worry about Manning going 70 yards for the win". You're right. If you go for it and don't get it, you have to worry about Manning going 20 some yards for the win. I like those odds much better than going the length of the field.

I am quite aware of the difference and I want my Coach to be a cocky, arrogant, SOB.

A couple of coaches that fit that criteria among various sports. Billy B, Phil Jackson, and Tony LaRussa. I'll take all three for my teams.

I think the point for some of us is defending the risk taking behind it. Coaches shouldnt be handcuffed to some % chart. This isnt baseball and less and less coaches are deciding based on numbers and not playing there gut.
Again ball was completed past the LOS , the play ended up marked behind because of the bobbly catch/tackle. So you cant knock the play design.

On the flip side Jacksonville makes an absolutely STUPID playcall having MJD kneel it on the one. They were behind at that point. Why risk a botched snap , a block , or a miss when the lead is 100% guaranteed ?
But since it worked you have people praising it up and down the aisles.
Best reason to have a license.

LOL, How is that arrogant? That hadn't been held to less than 17 points all season. :confused2:

This call is one reason I like Belichick as a coach. As much as I dislike the Pats, I like BB as a coach for the very reasons outlined in the opening post.

Colts should've onside kicked the ball. The odds of them recovering an onside are probably greater than them stopping the Pats from getting 10 yards on 4 plays. Plus, the Patriots have Tom Brady. Lastly how many times did the Colts hold the Pats to a 3 and out during that game? I'd rather go for the win than rely on the shaky Colts defense.

Good thing the Colts didn't kick an onside though. It would've been a bad idea regardless of the outcome.

Anyway ESPN is fucking up huge here. I agree had the call worked they'd be all starry eyed talking about how great Belichick is. But since it failed they want to go to the other extreme. Earlier they had a live feed of Belichick's press conference to see if he'd say anything new about the situation. Unsurprisingly he just talked about the Jets. So then they had Wendi Nix go badger a few Pats players about the situation just so we could listen to them give the standard PC answer about the call. Sports media isn't really shit nowadays.
