Did MJD kneeling at the 1 hurt your fantasy team?

if so, you're not the only one.....

So you lost your fantasy game last weekend because Maurice Jones-Drew took a knee to help the Jaguars manage the clock against the Jets rather than scoring a touchdown.

So you lost your fantasy game last weekend because Maurice Jones-Drew took a knee to help the Jaguars manage the clock against the Jets rather than scoring a touchdown.

    So did he.

Maurice Jones-Drew's kneel-down on the Jets 1-yard line in Sunday's game was smart move -- just not for his fantasy team.
I just spoke to Jones and he said he lost his game by five points and fell to 6-4. A devoted fantasy player, his unselfish act may cost him a playoff spot in his league.

“That would have had me at 6-4 at the top of my league,” he said. “It might cost me, but I trust that my team will step it up these next couple weeks and get us back into contention.”

Here’s an assessment of the fantasy-impact from ESPN.com’s fantasy guru, Matthew Berry.

And here’s what our fantasy folks have to say about the effect of the play in just our leagues:

Approximately 10,000 ESPN.com fantasy owners lost this week because of Maurice Jones-Drew taking a knee rather than scoring. Since every matchup has a winner and a loser, it's fair to say that some 20,000 players were affected by the play one way or the other.

    I read that to MJD.

“That’s awesome, that means that people are going to watch more, watch more Jacksonville games,” he said. “They’ve got to stay tuned, you never know what we might do.”

Does he hope to produce an extra score down the road to help offset the loss?

“I’m going to have to, I have to make it up for myself too,”
he said, before joking about help for the team avoiding a blackout of a home game for the first time this season. “You should tell those 10,000 that lost that if they come to the games, I will score next time. Fly down to Jacksonville and come to a game.”

MJD seems like one of the coolest guys in the NFL.

But no I don't play fantasy football so it didn't hurt me.

One of my favorite MM moments was when CF4L would bump the Brian Westbook sliding at the 1 thread. I can't remember who but somebody hated his life for that thread.

I remember that shit! Cannot for the life of me remember who got pissed though, lol.

Was it Dave? He's an Eagles fan and I know CF4L hates his old ass.

I honestly think it was M4L, but I'm not sure.

It wasn't a smart move at all

You can't do that shit when you are DOWN 1 ... a number of things can go wrong on a Feild Goal

Westbrook did it when his team was up four .

Yeah I agree, you take the score. Nothing would be worse then taking a knee there and the kicker missing the FG. It wasnt MJD's decision, of course, but still.

The funny thing about that is I was listening to the radio broadcast and the announcers were saying that the only way the Jets can win is if they allow MJD to go in before the play even started. And when it happened, they called MJD's play a smart, selfless play. I suppose that's the other thing you take into account (giving the Jets another chance). I think it's a smart decision because you're keeping the game in your hands rather than leaving it in the other teams hands.

I was playing against MJD. I won by 10 so it didn't really matter in my case.

                    Not really

You just shifted the game from in your defenses hands to in your special teams hands . You have to take the points imo

A number of things can go wrong with the other teams offense marching down the field on a two-minute drill. I'd much rather leave it up to my offense to get to kick a 21-yard field goal, then to leave it up to my defense and give them another chance to score.

My wife lost her game by 5 points because Maroney fumbled into the endzone on Sunday night. I lost mine by 3 points against the best team in my league because Peyton passed to Reggie Wayne to end the game.....grrrrrr

if he scores the td sure you have to rely on your defense a little bit, but at the very least you are forcing the other team to go all the way down for a td. Imho i think taking the assured 6 points is the best move, but it worked out for them okay.
Yes, just as many things, if not more can go wrong while defending a two-minute offense.

We've seen it this year more than ever (or so it seems), that two-minute offenses are extremely effective. Whether it's defenses playing prevent, or just more options being created.

As it can but at least you are scoring and taking the lead then FORCING the other team into driving 70-80 (depending on a KR) .

This isin't madden ... Feild goals aren't 100% . Why possibly hand them a win when you can force them into driving for a td with a rookie quarterback ?

Look at my previous post for your answer. As far as I know, there's a better percentage of making that field goal then stopping a team on a two-minute drill.
