    We Need You Charlie Weis

Charlie Weis is a good coach? His record says otherwise.

leave to eric to say even more dumb shit. the only reason they didnt fire wies already is cuz he is a cracka. they canned that nigga willingham way before he sucked this bad and the only thing that kept the racial storm quiet was the fact that Ty went to washington and sucked even worse.

lol at wanting to keep Weis just so Clausen and Tate will stay one more year. Solid long term strategy right there.

and how can you credit Weis for the offense, but excuse him from blame for the defense. He's the head coach, he's responsible for both.

the only people in south bend who want wies to stay are the owners of the local buffets.

I actually like Notre Dame, always have. After Oregon, that is the school I root for. My bad for not wanting to read this guys asinine reasoning as to why Weis should stick around..

LOL @ Keeping those guys there for another year. What do you really expect to be different this time around? ND is gonna get smacked by 20+ @ USC next year no matter who the head coach is. They were all set up to go to the BCS this year, even the schedule weighed in their favor. And now they are going to have to play a pissed off Stanford team that killed USC a couple weeks ago. Let's get a quick rundown of Notre Dame's losses...

@ Michigan - Lost to the only powerhouse team that might be in more disarray than them. Not to mention facing a QB in his second college game EVER.

vs. USC - ND fans on here (Irish) were claiming that Weis should keep his job because they hung close with a team being led by a true freshman... AT HOME!

vs. Navy - Paul Johnson has been gone for 2 years now. ND can't even win the damn commander in chief trophy anymore.

@ Pittsburgh - They only lost by 5, maybe another reason to keep Charlie around?

vs. UConn - Lost to a basketball school that had been reeling since the death of Jasper Howard. That makes 3 home losses on the year, well done.

Notre Dame has beaten Washington, Michigan St., Purdue, Nevada, BC and WAZZOU. Other than Purdue, ALL OF THOSE WERE HOME GAMES! Yet this team was still being considered BCS worthy until the Pitt loss. GTFOH with that shit.

Give me a valid reason why this guy should stay other than the shitty players (save Golden Tate) who can't win shit are going to leave if he goes. Good riddance, bring on some one who can win a division 1 football game at the school with the best tradition in the country.
                    Wow just busting your chops...

                    guess VSN=Serious Business.

He's now gone through his first set of recruits and his only BCS appearances were on Tyrone's players and he got smacked in both games. Like I said, I care about this team, my whole family does. We used to go see them play at the Coliseum every 2 years and no don't anymore because we are tired of leaving with our heads hung. Weis is out of excuses, he needs to go.
I'm not a fan of ND but I don't have an undying hatred towards them. I think Weis is a fine Offensive Coach but needs a better DC.

If he is fired he'll probably land at a non BCS school and fuck shit up... in a good way.

But in all seriousness, Notre Dame hasn't had a big name coach who can put together good seasons since Lou Holtz.

Charlie Weis is a good offensive coordinator type but was in waaaaaaay over his head as a head coach at a major college like Notre Dame...Notre Dame is not the type of job you want to take to learn on the fly. Being a head coach at Franklin High in North NJ (not exactly known for its top flight talent in that part of town) doesn't quite count as preparation for being the head man at a University, especially one like Notre Dame.

Weis did a good job with the Notre Dame offense and got some good pieces in South Bend for success, but ultimately, only having one aspect of the game down isn't enough to be successful, especially at the level Notre Dame is at.

Notre Dame in this landscape of college football is tough to succeed at, and recently, Notre Dame hasn't gotten a guy for the job, period.

Post Holtz they just haven't gotten the kind of guy they need to win...

If Eric is endorsing him I think that has to be on the top of the list of reasons TO fire him.

Pretty much agree with this and Glen's post. Weis still doesn't understand how to be a good head coach. You can't absolve him of the play of the defense simply because he is an offensive-minded guy. It's year five, and the opposite side of the ball is still playing like shit as a unit.

The only positive from Weis' tenure is that he's shown that ND can still recruit top talent and maintain good academic standards, which should attract a larger pool of replacement candidates.

People keep talking about Notre Dame like they have to recruit purely guys with 4.0 GPA's that are ranked in the top 5 of thier class.. ND and all other schools will bend the rules for good athletes. Robert Hughes got in to ND with a 2.5 GPA and a 17 on his ACT.

Point: Academics don't really have a bearing on a player getting into a school outside of the Ivy League when it comes to football. Unless its something severe (Like under a 2.0 or single digits on the ACT), they are going to get in.
