I really hope Edsall doesn't leave Uconn. He has brought "us" so far in his 11 years as the head coach. Uconn ended with a 7-5 record but in their 4 losses I think they had the lead with under 2 minutes to go and just blew it. (Rutgers with like 35 seconds left, Pittsburgh on a last second field goal, WV on a long ass run and NC on a safety)

Why would Notre Dame need a search firm? The candidate pool is already defined, and the candidates are all well-known. Its not like Notre Dame has to scour the nation for viable candidates, and its not like Notre Dame would ever hire some unknown high school coach from Hillbillyville, Arkansas (except for Gerry Faust).

I think the primary reason for using a search firm is to keep things quiet, and to their credit, things have been very quiet regarding the coaching search unlike in the past. Most rumblings seem to be originating from sources beside ND.

On the other hand, no one really knows who ND has contacted/interviewed for the position, and the question of whether they've done their due diligence to find the best candidate for the position remains since so little information has come out.
