Issac Bruce once put up a 1700 yard season, which was followed up with a 1300 yard season. The offense was ranked like 20th both seasons. Issac Bruce was just that good. Our offense wasn't all that much better than the Detroit Lions the last few seasons.. Hell, I think back in 2007 Detroit had the 9th best passing offense.

Doesn't Detroit have the 20th best passing offense in the NFL? Which is better than Cincinnati, yet Chad Johnson is ranked 15 spots higher than Calvin Johnson. Carolina is ranked 28th in passing offense, yet Steve Smith is only 2 yards behind Calvin Johnson, with 1 more TD.

The issue isn't that you disagree with Calvin Johnson being top 5, the issue is when you throw out Nate Brlueson and Piere Garcon as his peers.

Chad Johnson you say? Chad Johnson who averages a whooping 2 yards more a game receiving, but has a lower YPC than Calvin Johnson. It's almost like Calvin Johnson missing 2 games is impacting his counting stats. Not even counting Carson Palmer vs a rookie QB (or Daunte freaking Culpepper). Clearly Chad Johnson is superior...just look at all that extra production.

Steve Smith has posted pretty similar counting stats to Calvin....in 2 extra games.

The one aspect we need to watch with any wideouts game is "do they produce even when they have a target on their back?" Can we say that about Calvin Johnson yet? Having not watched enough of his games to determine that, I'll turn those thoughts over to those that watch them religiously.
