Jason Cole/Yahoo! Sports - Falcons running back Michael Turner has blamed himself for the down season he endured in 2009 after having a breakout year in 2008.

"We made the playoffs and then I played in the Pro Bowl and all that was cool," Turner said. "Then I got home and I was just beat up. I needed to just rest, and I just went into a cave and didn't come out."

Turner gained 1,699 yards and scored 17 touchdowns in the 2008 after being traded from San Diego.

"I thought I'd just rest, but I was off too long, I got sloppy with my eating, the whole thing," he said. "By the time I got to training camp, I wasn't in good shape at all. It wasn't so much the weight, but my body fat was up. All of camp, I'm trying to catch up. I'm trying to get in football shape while I'm trying to lose weight, and I was just never right."

Turner missed five games and rushed for just 871 yards after his tremendous 2008 campaign.
at least he recognizes what he did wrong and is fixing it unlike some of them guys who don't care (i.e. Albert Haynesworth)

Yeah that story has been on the yahoo sports front page for the last two days.

I'll wait to see in the regular season how he runs and what the outcome and stats are.

From the article you expect to have seen something strikingly different so far, and I know it's only pre-season, but in watching all the pre-season games I have seen nothing different. Not to mention he got the ball ripped away from him last night.

Idk why they keep letting Chevis cover these good WRs. He's making out secondary look like shit.

          - I don't know why they took out Grimes and let Chevis stay in. Grimes and Owens are competing for the #2 CB spot and they take out Grimes...

          - Kroy is a motherfucking beast, he better be starting at LDE on opening day, he's our new Kerney.

          - Lofton is a beast as well, he had 10 tackles in the first half last night.

          - Matt did not look good at all in my opinion, it seemed like all his throws went to Roddy...

          - Matt Bryant is not good, we gave him the job way to early. We need a good kicker to go deep into the playoffs. I don't trust him to make a game winning field goal to send us to the playoffs.

Honestly it should go Owens 2, then Williams. The only thing Grimes has done is make that one play in your signature that was on Monday Night Football that people immediately thought this guy was a player. I've watched way too many falcons games where it just is too easy for our opponents to throw at him. I know he is undersized and has alot of heart and plays hard, but he just cannot be a #2 corner on a team.

But I'm not OK with any of those guys as our #2 corners either, but that's all we got. I'll really be sick if Chris Houston turns the corner and is solid for Detriot this year.

OuR LB's really scare me,,,alot. Fortunately they all finally played well last night.

                Lofton's beasting so far.

Oh, and here's two sigs I made if anyone wants to use them. Didn't turn out that great, but oh well. More to come.

Did anyone see the Steelers and Broncos game last night? I'm not worried about any of their QBs. Dixon had no TDs and 2 INTS, Batch went 3/4 with 1 TD and 1 INT, and Leftwich went 0/4 lol. So if our defense plays like it did Friday against Miami, I think we will be just fine against the Steelers Week 1.

OK, but on the flip side, did you see Dixon's first two pre-season games?
                    13 for 15 - 200 yards 1 TD 0 INT
                    11 rushes for 58 yards

He had been pretty impressive in the first two games that I saw. Last night obviously not so much. He scares me, here is to hoping the start Leftwhich.

Leftwich will definitely be the starter for them.

Here;s hoping. I think we have a better chance with him in there then Dixon to be honest. Leftwhich has looked equally bad if not worse IMO. But he might be all fired up to play his former team. That whole Petrino, Harrington, and Leftwhich drama was ridicuolous.

Leftwich was so god awful as a Falcon though. I know he came into the game cold off the bench, but I'll still never forget the game we lost (Titans maybe?)after he threw 4 straight incomplete passes with goal to go. The last pass sailed into the front row of the stands if I recall.

                            He absolutely sucks.

This games still burns me til this day, and started my hatred for Bobby Petrino. He goes ahead and benches the starting QB, who has been with the team through camp and the first month learning the complicated system, IN FAVOR of LEFTWHICH in the 4th QTR of a ROAD game, WHEN HE WAS ONLY ON THE TEAM FOR barely 3 weeks?????? Who does that? Who throws their QB under the bus like that in Game 4?? I can't beleive Arkansas hired him. What a quitter.

Fuck Petrino so hard. I had so much fun at the LSU-Arkansas game last year shit-talking him to the idiot Razorback fans who were sitting behind me. I kept calling him a scumfuck, and they kept saying "Scoreboard...Scoreboard" once they took the lead with 30 seconds left. Of course we drive 60 yards in 20 seconds and kick the tying FG. Then we win it in OT.

My final comment before leaving my seat:

"That Petrino sure knows how to finish the job, eh?"
