Just because a guy was average to bad with one team doesn't mean he is going to be bad with another just look at Dennis Erickson...oh wait...

Outside of Cowher and Marty (maybe) the options are actually quite thin imo. Gruden said he won't come back yet and Dungy has said several times that if he wanted to Coach he would still be in Indy.

          Done deal.

Pete Carroll is fully expected to be introduced as the Seahawks next head coach, assuming they comply with the Rooney Rule this weekend.

          Oh well

I'm pumped about Pete Carroll. Took the Patriots to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years. That's much better than NOT taking them to the playoffs. Plus it's been a while since he's coached in the pro's and I'm sure he's changed his coaching style a bit. I'm excited to see how this all works out.

He also took over a Super Bowl squad that got worse every year. Have fun with that Seahawk fans.

Bright side, you guys will probably have the top pick for the next few years.

Thank goodness. If you're going to rebuild, you might as well do it with #1 picks. Even though I don't anticipate that to happen

Seahawks have two high picks this year which barring anything else, they should build up their two lines. Sign a free-agent QB and throw for the fences.

How many coaches in the playoffs this year are on their second or more stint as a HC? Just three, Belichick, Turner, and Phillips, and are Turner and Phillips really "great" coaches? I don't understand why everyone talks about Cowher and Gruden and Shanny and so on so much, like you need to get one of these guys or else. I guess Ryan, Lewis, Peyton, Sparano, McCarthy, McDaniels, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Caldwell, Mike Smith, Childress, and so on aren't good coaches?

Carroll will be back to college within two years. If it is true that USC is about to have the hammer brought down on them and he wants to get out before that, he's going to be back coaching another college team like Saban in a year or two. This is an awful, stupid decision by the Seahawks, possibly worse than hiring Mora. There is a reason nobody hires college coaches anymore.

I notice you left out Nick Saban and Bobby Petrino, who would be a better comparison with Carroll than any of those guys.

He also did not have much NCAA success before taking those NFL jobs.

Unlike Saban at LSU, Petrino at Louisville. And now Pete at So. Cal.

He'll be back once he realizes how much harder the NFL is, rather than reeling in top 10 recruiting classes every year at the college level.
