Yeah, I'd say Pete was pretty good at it. Even if he was at Southern Cal. Its not like he is going to come back to college and coach at Florida International, he'll be at a top school, capable of reeling in those top classes once more.

While being in Crenshaw isn't exactly a great place, it's ignored when you can jump on the 10 and be at the beach within 30 minutes.

Also, the ridiculous amount of hot coeds who go there helps as well.

That's not really helping your cause is it?

So he took over an average So. Cal program and was pulling in top 10 classes every year basically. What is to say he cant do that again at another average program? He doesn't even have to go back to an elite program you are saying.

            Pete Carroll isn't a disaster?!?!

What I'm saying is the reason Carroll pulled top talent is he's GREAT at recruiting. Likewise, the reason USC dominated is he's a GREAT coach (at least at the college level). That kind of supports my point he's NOT a ship wreck - no?
Lol. The NFL is a whole other ball game. But okay, you enjoy your coach who took over a Super Bowl caliber team and finished with a worse record every year after.

Doesn't take much to please Seahawk fans these days.

I'm wondering if Seahawk fans were saying the same things when Dennis Erickson was hired.

I don't understand why everyone talks about Cowher and Gruden and Shanny and so on so much, like you need to get one of these guys or else. I guess Ryan, Lewis, Peyton, Sparano, McCarthy, McDaniels, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Caldwell, Mike Smith, Childress, and so on aren't good coaches?

Carroll will be back to college within two years. If it is true that USC is about to have the hammer brought down on them and he wants to get out before that, he's going to be back coaching another college team like Saban in a year or two. This is an awful, stupid decision by the Seahawks, possibly worse than hiring Mora. There is a reason nobody hires college coaches anymore.

Well considering BB is the best coach of the modern era and Turner and Phillips are good coaches at their own individual area [O and D]... i'm sure Seattle wouldn't mind if Carroll comes close to any of those guys

All of them have won something called a superbowl . Being a superbowl winning coach isin't an easy thing to do, teams are willing to go after guys who have been there and done it .

I guess Ryan, Lewis, Peyton, Sparano, McCarthy, McDaniels, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Caldwell, Mike Smith, Childress
Three of these aren't even in the playoffs so I'm not sure how they fit into this conversation but I'm sure nobody is saying these guys are bad coaches . Teams are just more willing to go after Superbowl Winning head coaches instead of first year guys.

A little bit harsh to say that . Carroll has showed no signs in his career [as HC] thus far that make you think he will lie then quit on a team within a season or two.

NOTHING is worse than hiring Mora . NOTHING

Carroll is a good recruiter but he's also at the flagship program of one of the greatest recruiting states in the country... look around at some of the other schools that fit this description: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State. What do they all have in common? They all pull in top-notch recruiting classes.

I don't think anyone's denying that Carroll is skilled at recruiting.

But recruiting doesn't matter at all in the NFL.

And it's fun to be excited about something with the Seahawks after the season I just watched.
