With the 17th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers select...
Bruce Campbell, offensive tackle from Maryland.
Post draft analysis: Most experts had Campbell tagged as a top 10 pick, but injury concerns dropped him down the board. As the last elite tackle left on the board, the 49ers were quick to snatch him up.
With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals select...
Sergio Kindle, defensive end from Texas.
The Cardinals are shameless whores about picking a need position. Even though the Cardinals were in top five in sacks, it's misleading because Arizona blitzes A LOT since they lack a legit pass rusher. Haggans and Okeafor are on the wrong side of 30 and the one legit rusher, Bert Berry, is part time and can only do that.
Kindle has elite athleticism, is from a winning program, damn good at playing the run and is already comfortable playing standing up. He's the perfect SOLB to take over for Chike Okeafor's spot next year. The drunk driving incident is a concern because Arizona is extremely high on character.

with the 27th pick in the 2010 NFL draft the Philadelphia Eagles select:
Jerry Hughes, DE TCU
The Eagles were interested in Weatherspoon from Missouri, but with Omar Gaither and Stewart Bradley coming off IR and the acquisition of Will Witherspoon the Eagles go in a different direction. Antoher dominant pass rusher opposite trent cole will mean more exotic blitzes where players can cheat up then drop back and still get pressure.
Our run defense was porous at best this season and Williams immediately upgrades it. Our current starting nose tackle, Jamal Williams is getting old and neither Travis Johnson or Ogemdi Nwagbuo seemed like good replacements in the time they had this year. Williams will immediately help the unit and can learn behind Williams in 2010/11 before taking the reins full time in 2011/12
