Rumor mill: Matt Leinart to Seahawks?

This is strictly a rumor I heard on the radio this morning.

If Kurt Warner does not retire after this season, Matt Leinart wants out of Arizona.

Leinart is scheduled to make $14 million next season, so Arizona will most likely want to move him, as well.

Rumors have it that Pete Carroll may be interested in reuniting with Leinart in Seattle if Warner does not retire.

it would be a move that proves that pete carroll should have stayed at USC and accepted the santcions the program will get.

Agreed. If a deal is reached it will most likely involve money/picks/players, etc.

Maybe Leinart will restructure in order to be moved or even stay with AZ if he changes his mind.

Why trade anything? If he wants out, he won't take a paycut and the Cards will just cut him. Don't give up anything for him...but then, this would be the new Carroll regime we're talking about...

Great, Carroll should go after Mike Williams and Reggie Bush too.

Agreed, but how much will the Cards have to pay him if they cut him?

If he does restructure, they could at least get something for him. And since the Cardinals have no faith in him whatsoever, why not trade him within the division and royally fuck the Seahawks over?

If they cut him, they don't pay him anything, assuming they don't give him some kind of roster bonus he may be due at a certain date. Aside from his pro-rated signing bonus, he'd be off the books.

In that case, the Cards would be fools to not cut him and throw that money at Warner.

With all the money, the #10 pick and time they've invested in Leinart, Arizona would be insane to give up on him if Warner retires.
At the very least, give him a year to prove himself.
