If this pans out, this is a terrible hire. Its not that he is a bad coach, but he is in no way qualified to coach at Tennessee. There isn't a single reason why they couldn't go after one of the many qualified assistants out there, who would be a much better hire.Comment

Dooley's resume is actually fairly solid. He's arguably more prepared for the job than Kiffin. He coached under Saban at LSU, is a great recruiter, and has like 3-4 years of college head coaching experience. Kiffin was a bigger risk than this IMO.
I think he'll do fine, and bring way less scrutiny and embarrassment to the program than seen in the "Lane Violation" regime.Comment
