I never heard this news of cassel being franchised. Got a link to show me?

EDIT: I just read somewhere that the time you give players franchise tags is from February 5 - 19. If he has i want to see a link to actually show me with a source. The patriots have said they will but it hasn't happend yet because it can't happen yet.

I believe Kevin O'Connel will be the next Qb for the pats after Brady retires. Here is my theory. Brady will be 32 when the season starts. I figure he will play another 3 or 4 years. There is no reason for him to continue to play into his late thirties because he will have won 3 superbowls(maybe more). He will have an MVP(maybe more) and he is already hall of fame bound. So he will have nothing to prove if he stays. He will probably want to have a good life after football without being all banged up from injuries. So Kevon O'Connel if he stays with the patriots till then would be with the team for 4 or 5 years and it would be sort of like Matt Cassel this year.

Now I want Brady to stay as long as he can but every patriot fan knows that Brady will eventually retire.

I think you never know how good O'Connell will be so they should have Brady start this season with Cassel coming in if he needs to. Then prior to the 2010 season you can trade Brady and make Cassel your starter. I'm not sure how trading Brady would effect their salary cap so depending how it would this may actually be a terrible plan.

Cassel is going to get traded this year. Cassel may say he wouldnt mind coming back to the pats as a bench player but we all know he rather go somewhere else and be a starter. It wouldnt surprise me if Peoli tries to bring Cassel to the chiefs this year.

Yea maybe but also remember before this season Cassel hadn't started a game since high school and i don't think he would mind making 14 million. Now i think it is obvious there is no way the pats would let Cassel go without some compensation for him. I think that is a good idea about the Chiefs getting Cassel, then with Todd Haley coming in as the new head coach they could really be contenders. Now Todd Haley is from the Parcells coaching tree just like Belichick so ya know im not saying, im just saying lol.

Well maybe the best at developing QB's. When they don't need a QB he usually doesn't turn into much. If Brady can stay healthy then they won't need O'Connell.
