Apparently Orlando wants a MLB team. What a joke. To add to their fail, they think the Brewers should be the team to move to Orlando, despite Milwaukee having the 9th best attendance in MLB, much better than either Florida team. And the Brewers have contract with Miller Part through 2030.
Orlando Fail.

I guess they figure if families are already in town for Disney World they might stop for a baseball game as well.Comment

Yea............but its pathetic. I went to a Braves-Phillies game last year in ATL and I swear a third of the stadium was filled with Phillies fans, who bought their tickets at the window. And the Braves fans who were there had no idea where their team stood in the standings or what baseball is.

Atlanta is by far the worst "major sports city". The braves have a decent attendance but Thrashers and hawks attendance is pitiful. Ive been to Atlanta to see Chicago, Boston, and St Louis play and every time the stadium seems to be at least half full of the road teams fans.Comment

Yeah but Atlanta's TV deals and ratings are among the tops in the league because of the deal with TBS and TNT.Comment

A team in a place like Orlando (much like Vegas) would never work as you have absolutely no way to predict revenue because there wouldn't be a solid season ticket base. You'd be dependent every single game on walkup attendance. Of course you'd still have your ST holders but not nearly as much as you'd find in a city that's base income and base population is there to "visit".Comment

But I still think, a team in Charlotte, would be a gain in the south east market.

I don't know why it is, but I think the main reason is there are a lot of transplants in Atlanta, it's like the LA of the south in that regard, and there's actually shit to do other than go to sports games. It's not like Boston or New York where you sit inside all winter waiting for baseball season, you have parks and shit you can go to year round, the city is very laid back, very different mindset than the crazies of Philly, New York, Boston, Chicago, etc.
But every Cubs or Cardinals series is basically a Braves road game. It's sad and the fans are fucking morons. And the fans who do go are twenty-somethings who sit in the upper deck and get drunk and socialize. A lot of girls too just there to have a good time.
It's sad that our fanbase is so fucking apathetic, but it's true. I don't live there anymore so I can't say if I'd be going to the games or not, but I always dreamed of having Hawks/Braves season tickets one day, knowing they wouldn't be hard to find.Last edited by NAHSTE; 01-25-2010, 06:20 PM.Comment
