Myron Rolle

Thoughts on him?

If he can still play like he did before going further into his studies as a Rhodes Scholar I think this guy is the best safety in the draft right up there with Berry. I haven't heard much talk from him and haven't seen him on many mock drafts... so where do you guys rate him?

With the trash the Bears currently have at safety I'd love to see him fall to us in Rnd 3.

I remember Todd McShay saying Rolle is kickin ass (well not in those exact words lol) in the Senior Bowl practices despite him being out of football for a year. Would love to see him in Cowboy blue. I think he might be a 2nd-3rd round pick right now.

I have a serious feeling he becomes a Cowboy... I really don't see him falling out of the 1st round, and if he does IMO he's a steal.

How so? He's not a 1st round talent. He's an SS w/ good instincts who's good but not great in coverage. IMO he's a 3rd-4th round Safety w/ such a deep class this year.

I think it said somewhere his mother is Doctor and his Father is a Lawyer. It may be the other way around....Anyway I heard him do a interview on the Jim Rome show, dude was so smart he made me feel dumb.

Football wise, he at his peak was a mid to late first round pick. After being out of football, there is no way in hell he goes before late 2nd round. I hope to Allah or Jupiter that he is there when the Berz have their first pick. I is instantly better that Manning, Afalava, Payne, Steltz and Bullocks.

I'd be shocked if he goes in the first round . Hell... I'd be kinda suprised if he went high in round two

He wasn't even a first rounder last year. He's gonna go 2nd or 3rd because of his instincts and awareness, plus he has good size, but his coverage ability is and was a question mark.

Here is what I posted about him on another site about a week ago when I was asked:

Rolle is very serviceable. He reminds me a lot of Michael Lewis. Doesn't make many mistakes but isn't Eric Berry type flashy. With that said, I don't believe he will go in the 1st unless he slims down and improves his speed and even then it will be a long shot. Also being out a year will probably hurt his stock a bit although I hear he is playing in the Senior Bowl so maybe he can shake some of the rust off there. He's good in run support but not someone you can stick on a WR alone and say "cover him". FSU's defensive scheme is a lot of man to man with a lot of focus on the DB's controlling there assignments. Rolle's assignments, for the most part didn't involve him making INT's. With Rolle, Tony Carter(CB) and McClure(FS), and Everett Brown moved on last year, our secondary got torched this year. You really appreciate having a smart SS/FS and that's what Rolle is.

With that said, in the right scheme I believe Rolle can be a very good player. At the very worse, I can see him as a Mark Roman type player. Someone who wont make a lot of INT's but wont give up the big play often either.
