NFL Lockdown in 2011 is "Quite possible"

This will get ugly if there is no cap in place next season...which it appears there won't be.

Everyone knows what MLB went through when they had their strike, if the NFL is fucked up in 2011 (either a lockout or strike), how much of a negative impact will it have on the sport?

AJ Green comes back for his senior year if there is no NFL.

        Lock out! Lock out!

I doubt this happens. The owners would lose so much money by doing this, and these things usually get done by the 11th hour.

The likelihood of football in 2011 is essentially slim to none at this point...the owners are positioning themselves for a lockout. They made TV deals that pay them even if the games aren't played, essentially giving them a lockout paycheck. This could get ugly...I have a feeling that the owners are just going to muscle the players on this one, and won't budge until the players cave in and accept a significant reduction in the money allocated to them.

Not only that, but even if we do get a new CBA, I can't possible see the salary cap coming back. Either way, we're looking at some rough waters ahead.

Yup, sounds like the owners. Well, there goes any chance of the Raiders EVER getting better. Lane better get shit together at USC...

Or maybe the UFL will come together. Hahahaha. Ya, right... GO LOCOS!

whats the main thing thats getting in the way of getting this done? do the players want more money but the owners dont want to do that?

one real issue is the owner fighting each other over revenue sharing. jerry jones is one of the ones who called fro the opt out this year and it was mainly because he doesnt want to share his profits with lesser market teams. no salary cap is a nightmare but what alot of people dont realize is that a cap has a floor as well as a ceiling. this whole thing is going tomake the baseball strike look like a cake walk.

Smith said the NFL would receive $5 billion from its network television deals even if no games are played in 2011. He regarded that as proof owners are preparing for a lockout.

That will never happen. If they played college ball on Sundays, when would the FSU and Miami players attend Mass?

I say they should reform the USFL...
