i dont think the big 10 will get texas if they are trying or not. sicne the rumour is they are trying the idea of them only going to 12 is probably dead they are looking for 14. Texas is the big fish in the big 12 if they could snag them (which they wont) they could then try and drag in oklahoma and nebraska to make 14. Maybe they really want the Irish and think a team like texas will get them in is the only other reasoning i could think of. The b10 network has to be banking as thats about the only way it would even be financially responsible for texas.

Ya, that's supposed to be the pull for Texas - The BT1E1N Network...

I want thoughts from my fellow Big Ten guru, Sportsbuck.

As for some of mine, I would welcome the move with open arms. Texas builds on the Big Ten's excellent academic prestige, and gives them another great team in football. They're a great athletic school all-around and the Big Ten Network would get the chance to tap into the Texas market.

However, I don't see this happening.

I think one of the Big East schools should move to the Big Ten, like PSU did... I'm thinking Syracuse or Rutgers. I think it could help SU's recruiting. Cowherd brought up some good points for Rutgers... Plus the aforementioned Pitt....

Prepare folks..from what I'm hearing, this has a better chance of happening than any other school currently in discussion. My money is definitely on it happening.

Hate it or love it, Big 10 brings in plenty of money and it is a draw for a lot of schools for academic and financial reasons. Big 10 has long wanted to make a splash and has targeted Notre Dame. Since we know ND isn't happening, Texas is the next logical university that has been discussed for a long time. Texas looks at the Big 10 as a much better place to be than the Big 12. That's a fact.

Penn State was an Independent like Notre Dame, not from the Big East.

All bring nice resumes to the table. When you look at Rutgers and Syracuse, you're looking at solid athletic programs (not so much for Syracuse football or Rutgers basketball) and a chance to tap into the New York market. The Big Ten adding a team from the NY area would be HUGE for the Big Ten Network.

I already mentioned Texas's resume, and although Pittsburgh doesn't really help with the BTN, they bring back the PSU/Pitt rivalry and help out the academic prestige as well.

You're right. My bad. (PSU Independent)

Who would the Big 12 take to replace them? For some reason, Indiana popped into my mind, and then B10 could take Tex-Austin and TAMU, which I heard would have to be part of the deal.

Indiana wouldn't leave the Big 10 .. they are probably the most prestigious basketball team in the conference.

No team would leave the Big Ten, period. They're either expanding by adding one team, or they'll pick up three. No one is leaving the conference.

There was no logical reason for me to say Indiana. It just seemed like the Big 10 team closest to Big 12 borders...

What three? All three Texas teams? TA, TAMU, and TTU?

My guess would be either Texas/Oklahoma/Texas A&M or Missouri or Pittsburgh/Syracuse/Rutgers.
