No long term stability? The fuck?
20% of that 1 year guarantee is more than 99.9% of the people on this site will make in their entire career.
These type of responses by a fan, or player, are absolutely fucking ludicrous. It only shows how much people don't know how to conceptualize money and how to accurately take care of it.Comment

@ Empire WF, if you don't consider 12M long term stability what kind of lifestyle are you living? If Seymour really doesn't think he'll be able to sign a contract in 2011 because he's franchised for a year he needs to wake the fuck up.Comment

What if he (forbid) has a serious, career threatening injury? Sure he may collect the $12 mil, but that's it...plus whatever insurance I suppose.
Not saying you should ball your eyes out for the guy, but realize why players usually dislike being franchised.

That is fucking bullshit. That proves even more that someone can't handle their money. You can always sell a house or car if it is in the multi-million dollar range. And that's the only place where their serious debt should be. It can't be in medical as they have league insurance covering their family health. Anywhere else and it is a REALLY stupid fucking problem I don't feel sorry for them with, because obviously it will be wrapped up in shitty business ventures, idiotic jewelry, entourage BS, etc. etc. After that, a really nice house and a couple vehicles is easily affordable. Have you ever even sat down and done a monthly income, after taxes, for someone who makes $300,000 or maybe $400,000 a year???? That's more than 13,000 a month after taxes. Thankful to God my household income is very good, and I have a nice house, cars, etc but the difference becomes exponentially greater as the salary increases....if I had that extra difference between what I make now and the $13,000, I really don't know where it would go besides the bank UNLESS I purposely tried to waste it on dumb shit.Last edited by f16harm; 02-19-2010, 03:54 PM.Comment

Work sucks but at the end of the day you gotta get paid so go work and as soon as you get out you forget about that shit.
He may have been eager to leave but if he doesn't like the rules the NFL has in place I'm sure the CFL or UFL would be glad to take him.
That's why the franchise tag pisses vets like Seymour off. It's not like he signed in Oakland willingly. He was traded there. Now he can't leave that team because of this tag. If he was all about the money, I'm sure he would have signed a long term deal with a lot of guaranteed coin - especially since the Raiders have a tendency to grossly overpay their players. I think Seymour probably would rather play his last few seasons on a contender, rather than be stuck in a football purgatory.

He's not going to go from playing football to being an astrophysicist or something...
He's not going to get a better deal. Isn't the franchise tag the average of the top three salaries at that position? Longest deal he'll probably get at his age is three years. He better just take what he can get.Originally posted by ram29jacksonI already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SBComment

They get all that, and they never learn - even with a free fucking education - that there's an end to this. Your NFL career is more than likely to end in your early thirties. But these fools aren't ready for real life after that.
And it disgusts me.
I'm not saying athletes shouldn't be grateful they make millions of dollars to play a game, I'm just saying .. the idea they cannot physically leave a team, something the franchise tag really really makes a difficult thing to do, frustrates a LOT of players.

In the NFL.. The Raiders would be like a Burger King. He may not get a better deal financially, but he'd probably be in a much better environment if he were allowed to pick his own team.Comment
