I'm sure they're shopping Cromartie for a running back, and obviously looking to the draft as well.

I wouldn't doubt someone with two starting-worthy backs dealing one for Cromartie.

I could really see the Chargers nabbing Thomas Jones for Cromartie if the Asomugha deal doesn't end up happening, and then them drafting someone in the 2nd or 3rd to take the reins when Jones can't go any longer.

And a Ronnie Brown deal makes sense too (for Cromartie), because Miami's secondary is sorry.

EDIT: Highly doubt they'd want to deal Jackson.

Miami doesn't have a sorry secondary. They had two rookies starting at corner for the 2nd half of the season both of which are going to start again and they still have Will Allen. Vontae Davis has perennial Pro Bowler written all over him.

What they need is a safety not an overrated corner afraid of contact.

              lolChargers!

This is the beginning of the end for the Bolts reign of making it to the playoffs and choking.

Everyone knows FATE/DESTINY always course corrects itself.

Did you really think Jacob would ever let Charger fans see that team win a Super Bowl.

The NFL is a pass-first league. Running backs are a dime-a-dozen in the NFL now. Aside from Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, and a few others, there isn't much of a difference. This is just right now. Who knows what will happen next year? And they have such a short lifespan in the NFL. You can pick up quality running backs in the later rounds. Look how many rookie RBs are having immediate success. The RB committees are here to stay too so you just need a few capable running backs. I think it is a bad idea for any NFL team to make a RB their 1st pick in today's NFL unless it is an absolute need. I mean Chris Johnson had one of the best rushing seasons in history yet the Titans started out like 0-6 or whatever. They only turned it on when the passing game improved. Same thing goes for the Vikings. Adrian Peterson is a beast but without a good QB, the Vikings were no better than a one-and-done playoff team. Yet the Colts were last in rushing offense and nearly won the Super Bowl. The Saints had a bunch of no name running backs that helped them win the Super Bowl. Seriously...Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell...oh yeah and Reggie Bush.

I want to wear a "I Believe in A.J. Smith" pin right next to my "I Don't Believe in Norvell Turner" pin. I trust the front office and I think they end up looking pretty smart for this. They have a chance to draft a back and can also look for one through free agency or trade. I'm sure they'll be fine.

It seems to me like the smart thing to do would be draft one sort of back early and another back late...

Like get Spiller in the first and Gerhart somewhere between the second and fourth...

Or Dwyer first and McKnight second... Or Brandon James from UF later...

They'd be better off not doing that imo. I don't know exactly what San Diego's biggest needs are but drafting 2 runningbacks in the first 4 rounds sounds dumb to me.

If they hit on a runningback in the middle rounds I could easily see him rushing for 1100 or so yards. Like Emac said, RB's are a dime a dozen.

I'm saying. They could take two guys in the mid rounds (2/3-5), and upgrade something more important in the first round.

                                The draft's all about opportunity.
