Player who used to be good, still has some talent left.....wouldn't be surprised if the Bears signed him.

Moose, Marty Booker, you know it's coming.

They have not/will not tender him a contract b/c they would have had to pay him over $7 million.

Sproles says he can be an every down back. Guess they didn't agree.

Because Sproles can't be an every-down back.

OT; I mentioned to someone that this was going to happen because of Shonn Greene's showing in the AFCCG as opposed to TJ's. Someone called me stupid.

This is what happens to running backs.

Look at that shit. Benson sucked in Chi-town, did decent in Cinci (so far).

No. Benson was making too much money to be sitting the bench and Jones hated Benson by all accounts.

How the heck did JA handle it properly?

The NFL doesn't need "every down backs" right now...that sh!t died with Emmitt's retirement...we are in a multi-backfield league right now.

This was the way things were done before Barry and Emmitt made everyone strive for one back, 25-30 carry guys.

TJ leaves Arizona, Shipp goes down
TJ leaves Tampa, Cadillac goes under
TJ leaves Chicago, Benson goes down (albiet remerges this year in cincy)
TJ leaves New York, Green goes under???

TJ is still definately a very underrated HB in the grand scheme of things. I didn't realize that a simple 800 yard 4 td year next season will put him over 10k rushing yards and 75 td's.

Larry's right about every down backs. Sproles could be the "main" back, though.

Thomas Jones is a pro bowler, he ran for 1400 yards last season. That was his best year of his career so I fail to see how he "used to be good". It's insane how under appreciated TJ is still. Is he up there in age? Yes. Is he going to juke your face off and run pretty? No, but he will grind for you all game and get the tough yards, and can break out the big run every once in awhile. He's a top 12 back, he could help any team with a good line instantly.

Oh and as for my thoughts on the move...I'm conflicted. I'm not ready to trust Shonne Greene with the full workload yet and Leon needs to prove that he's healthy. I would have rather they had tried to restructure his contract and keep him around one more year. Shonne Greene has the potential to be special but we're putting a lot of stock into him by cutting a 1400 yard back.
