Great pickup for the Jags. He was one of the Packers best defensive players in the 4-3 scheme.

The Jags are a solid team with some great young pieces (MJD, Sims-Walker, Mathis). Bringing in a veteran like Kampman to fill a huge hole is a great move.

I feel like he was stubborn in Green Bay and refused to play/learn the 3-4 but I wish him the best in Jacksonville. He is still an all-pro caliber player.

I wanted the Eagles or Panthers to sign him... but good for the Jags... maybe they wont have to reach for a DE like Harvey again, at least not for a couple years.

Kampman's a very good player, but many of his sacks were hustle coverage sacks. The hustle was why I liked him so much, he did the most with the talent that he has.

My take on Kampman, having watched him his entire NFL career is:
an above average DE, with an enourmous amount of heart and hustle. The guy never quits, but he's not the most talented. He doesn't really generate sacks himself. Like I said. A lot of his sacks were coverage sacks w/ guys like Harris, Woodsen, Collins in coverage.

I still love the guy and wish him the very best with the Jags.

He wasn't happy about it. I remember watching locker room videos of him after the switch, and he pulled the "no comment" card. This was better for Kampman. I hope he returns to 12-15 sack form.
