David Carr Signs with the 49ers

Biggest move this offseason. Earth-Shattering in fact. Wow.

Carr is expected to back up Alex Smith in San Francisco.

Interesting dynamic since last week Patrick Willis said the 49ers had 3 QBs who were better than David Carr.

Makes sense, If Alex Smith ever goes down they won't want to change their entire offense to fit Shaun Hill's strengths. So they sign David Carr. Shaun Hill will probably be traded for a late round pick or released.

Probably will release him. I didn't want to sign David Carr though. Alex Smith better not get injured this season.

Of course, he probably got injured once he read that the Niners signed Carr.

I'm not sure if he ever gave a damn about playing.

Couldn't stand him in college, or the NFL. He had ''bust'' written all over his ass from the very start. Oh, but it's the lines fault, of course. I'm surprised the Rams didn't sign the guy, to make me even more miserable.

Carr was a great back-up and played well whenever he got a chance to step on the field for the Giants.

              I liked him, so there.

Depth and competition at our shaky QB spot is never a bad thing.

He doesn't remember playing in Houston because his face was in the dirt every other play.

Its all moot, Nate Davis will be the opening day starter anyway. I hope not, actually, but I hope he does win the #2 spot

Still trying to figure out the relevance between David Carr and the NFL.

I still say to this day Carr would have been a good QB if he had started with any team but the Texans (or Lions).
He was on the run for his life every game with that team.
You could make the argument his throwing mechanics are off, but that doesn't seem to hurt Philip Rivers (who was developed the right way).

There are a few QB's in the league with bad mechanics, and it hasn't hurt their legacy.

Phillip Rivers - Winner/Best QB rating in NFL since 04
                              Vince Young - RoY/Pro-Bowler/Great Winning %
Donovan McNabb - No explanation needed

                              Plus there are more.

This is what bothers me about the Tim Tebow discussions.
