What Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree aren't supportive enough?
Crabtree had a solid rookie season, but the Niners still need more weapons.
And they need a few more players before you can call them anything but an 8-8 team.
All that said, Reid isn't trading McNabb. He loves the guy.
What would be awsome if the niners sign Brandon Marshall and give up one of our first round picks. Use the other on a top Oline, and then trade for Mcnabb and give them a second day pick, smith, and a box of choclate.

with a still below average O-Line...plus, Crabtree and Marshall are similar receivers: big, physical guys. If the Niners need another offensive threat, its a burner to stretch the field. What they need most offensively is a better line. LG and RT need serious upgrade. Heitman is a solid center and Staley has looked pretty good. Rachal needs to become more consistent, especially in pass blocking.

Yea I see us drafting a speedster with one of our first two picks...probably C.J spiller. Our O-line was a weak spot last year. Injuries has a lot to do with it but we do need to get better along that line.

Eh, I dunno if I necessarily agree with needing more weapons. Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, and emerging wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan make up for a solid set of threats.
I want our primary focus to be on the offensive line. I think you can do amazing things with any amount of talent so long as your o-line is a beast. Defensive secondary is also a major concern of mine. Aside from that, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing an explosive all-purpose player like Spiller or Best land with the Niners. After that, I'd probably start looking at OLB and an impact slot receiver, maybe someone in the later rounds that we could develop.
As far as the Marshall thing goes...no thanks. The price you'd have to pay to land him would outweigh the impact I think he would have on the team at this point.

Agreed. The Niners have great young weapons. Gore is an elite back (Can you guys please give him some fucking touches?) and is great catching passes out of the backfield. Vernon Davis is an elite pass catching TE and can stretch the field. Crabtree will be a good number one WR for years to come, and Josh Morgan is a serviceable young WR. The Niners could use an O-Lineman, an OLB to help out Willis or maybe a Safety.
I agree. I think they owe McNabb another year along with a solid draft/FA period. There are some huge holes on this team that need to be addressed. Mainly the S, OLB, and DE positions.
This is what I thought they would do. They'd go after the big name free agents on the defensive side to fix the D and let McNabb have one more go of it in 2010. The offense is fine and has weapons everywhere. The only thing holding the O back is the coach/play calling.
Instead, they do nothing to improve the D and will not go anywhere with what they have on that side of the ball.
That's why I feel they might as well trade McNabb since they have no chance to win a Super Bowl with that defense. Get something for him now before he walks after the 2010 season.
A first for McNabb is way too much and why would philly want Smith? 2 young QBs in Smith and Kolb who, neither has had the chance to truelt prove themselves. I knew this was false when I read the title
