    LT to Sign with Jets?

LT appears to be in NY state of mind

LaDainian Tomlinson acknowledged the crowd at Qualcomm Stadium in November.

The team that just two months ago ended one of the best Chargers’ seasons ever now appears to have absconded with one of the best Chargers’ players ever.

According to three people with knowledge of the process, Tomlinson has decided to become a New York Jet.

"It's 100 percent," one source said. "Done deal."

Sources said Tomlinson is expected to announce the decision today or tomorrow.

Still, Tomlinson said via e-mail this morning that he “doesn’t know” where he’s going yet.

One source cautioned late Saturday night that a decision has not yet been officially made. But the others said today that Tomlinson has let people know he is going to New York.

After nine years as a San Diego icon, Tomlinson was released in February. His 2009 season saw him post career-low numbers in carries and yards, but he left the franchise holding 28 team records and as the NFL’s eighth-leading rusher all-time and third-leading touchdown scorer ever.

In New York, he will back up Shonn Greene.

Tomlinson also visited the Minnesota Vikings last week, spending two days in Minneapolis before going to New York. He returned to San Diego on Saturday.

There have also been reports the New Orleans Saints were interested in bringing Tomlinson for a visit. But the lure of playing in the Big Apple and under Brian Schottenheimer, the Jets offensive coordinator and son of former Chargers coach and LT confidant Marty Schottenheimer, evidently won out.

The length and terms of the deal are not known.

I hate the guy from a personal standpoint. From a football standpoint it makes some sense. He could be a great third down back for us, he can still get his nose in the endzone and catch some passes out of the backfield.

Oh this is good. My most hated NFL player is now on our rivals squad. Gives me more incentive to hate him, and hopefully he sits on the bench all season with a pouty face.

Yes. Tannenbaum is getting too fancy, we would be much better off with TJ and everybody can see that.

Tannenbaum is all about the Names not the talent, but he's made some smart moves hopefully he knows what he's doing here.

It's the grass is always greener syndrome. That shit always bothers me. I bet Thomas Jones has a better year splitting with Jamaal Charles in Kansas City than L.T. does splitting with Shonn Greene in New York. (barring injuries of course to either starter)

Behind that o-line and backing up Greene, Tomlinson should be fine.

                            Decent move.

of course TJ is gonna have a better year than LT. LT is going to be a clearly defined second string back. its not even going to be split carries, it will probably be maybe 5-10 a game with some third down work. this move is not about LT its about Shonn Greene and the Jets wanting to feature him. its the uncapped year who cares if the team spends more money ; they get a much more clearly defined pecking order and they get asses in the seats and jersey sales to cover the difference
