Bradford to Deal to Set Record

The Rams and representatives for Sam Bradford kicked off their negotiations Friday in St. Louis as they attempt to get the quarterback under contract in time for training camp.

No deal yet but its apparently expected to be the biggest contract in NFL history. The guaranteed money could be up to $50m, which would be an increase of almost $10m over what Stafford got from the Lions last year....

Yeah I'm sure everyone could predict the contract he was gonna get a while back. The Rams should have drafted someone else IMO then draft a QB in next years draft for a LOT less money.

Everyone should have expected him to get a bigger contract than Stafford, obviously. But if its the biggest contract in NFL history, as is being mentioned? That seems a big excessive...

Well the guaranteed money will obviously be the most in NFL History. You look Haynesworth got 41 million guaranteed on a 7 yr deal while Bradford will get close to 50 mil on 6 yr deal. His deal at the end will be about 6 years, 80 mil, with about 50 mil guaranteed. I don't think that'll break Haynesworth's deal in average amount per year but It'll be up there, It'll be the richest contract in terms of guaranteed money in NFL History.

Matt Ryan's deal was about 6 years, 66 mil, with 34.75 M guaranteed
                  Matthew Stafford's deal was 6 years, 72 mil, with 41.7 M guaranteed

You can predict the upgrade in money he'll get.

The NFL badly needs a rookie cap. Giving a rookie who hasn't played a down 50 mil guaranteed is absurd

I can't wait until the NFL enacts a rookie cap.
                      This is just stupid.

how do they justify going up 6+ million every year for the top picked QB in the draft?

Now Bradford can afford to buy a platinum-plated, hyperbaric chamber for his arm...

The Rams pretty much just signed this kid's death warrant and he hasn't even played a preseason game yet.

And, to think, Tom Brady is struggling to get a new deal.
