I mean, the Big XII is merely a hair above the SEC academically. The Big XII is the same conference with Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech, lol.
    7 AAU schools > 2 AAU schools.

That'd be awesome, if it wasn't merely determined by whether or not the school was a research institution.

UF, UGA, and Vandy > any school in the Big XII.

Also, the Big XII has more Tier 3 schools than the SEC.

Listen, the SEC is full of programs that aren't exactly known for the intellectual wizardry...but the Big XII isn't either. Between the two, you are splitting hairs academically.

ACC and Pac10 >>>>>> both, by a lot.

I can't even argue with that stupidity.

LSU, Alabama and Auburn are not exactly great schools, but in certain programs they offer a top flight education. For instance, Alabama and LSU are top 10 in journalism and communications. LSU and Auburn have strong agricultural research centers. Mississippi State's turf-management is world class.

Georgia, Vanderbilt and Florida are great schools on par with nearly any other university playing big time football.

The SEC isn't a great academic conference, but it has three great schools in UF, UGA and Vandy, and some others with unfair reputations. Arkansas is probably the worst one -- their admissions standards are nearly non-existent -- and Ole Miss and Mississippi State are pretty worthless too. But Bama, LSU, UT and Auburn are really good for certain programs. I have no idea about Kentucky or South Carolina.

Mississippi (Ole Miss) has the nation's only legal marijuana research center.

Auburn and Alabama aren't bad schools, they are Tier 2.

Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Miss State...not really good. They are low end Tier 2 and are an average semester away from Tier 3 status. IIRC, two of them are Tier 3 now.

However, Vandy, UF, and Georgia are very strong institutions while Auburn and Bama aren't too shabby. I mean, they are on par with schools like Nebraska.

Even as an ACC fan I can't say the ACC is that much better than the Big East
