    Revis to Jets; "Pay Up!"

The Jets created this problem - they were the ones who told Darrelle they'd redo his contract, and that was months ago.

    LOL @ blaming the Jets.

I hate the Jets, but they offered him $ in between the guy from Oakland
and Asante Samuel. I think it was like 12 million a season. Revis turned it down because he wants more money than the Oakland CB and wants to be paid the highest in the league. Has nothing to do with the Jets Revis would be holding out no matter what.

I remember about a year or so ago when Reeves said he would not be a distraction when it came to his contract extension.....

In today's NFL, no CB is worth that much money.

I'd say any player is worth what they can get.

So how much is he asking for? 15 million a year?

Revis has to report by August 10th or any guaranteed money in his current deal from 2011 and 2012 is no longer guaranteed.

As I understand it (there is no official story since the Jets won't talk but here's how it's understood), Revis says GM Tenanbaum told him they wanted to make him the highest paid CB in the sport. One of the offers the Jets made was for about $10 mil a year with few if any guaranteed $$$ which pissed Revis off.

Who knows if Revis is dead set on being the highest paid corner, but I would assume he'd accept being the #2 paid guy if he gets plenty of guaranteed money.

At the same time, the Jets probably are not heavily worried because Revis is signed through 2012 and he'd be hurting himself if he chooses to hold out for a prolonged period.

                  Al Davis would disagree.

Which certainly backs up my point.

Revis kind of fucked himself on this one. The current contract he has now actually originated from him holding out as a rookie.

With the risk of injury, Revis has to get his money.

I think Revis is being a bit selfish here. They've offered him short contracts to be a "band-aid" so they can get him the contract he wants when a new CBA is in place. It seems like Revis doesn't care, he wants his money now. The Jets can definitely do special things this season if Revis is there.
