Miami fans tell me about Marve

The Due got this Hurricane castoff and he's our starter now. He tore his ACL last year when he had to sit out anyway, but now he's ready to take over.

I've been dealing with lames like Curtis Painter, Joey Elliot and Brandon Kirsch since Orton left :orton:. Quarterback U has been going through some tough times recently.

Is Marve any good? Should I be excited or terrified?

LOL Marve wasn't all that bad. I actually thought he was way better than Harris at the time.

If I remember correctly, he threw lots of bad INTs and made a bunch of bad decisions. And he wore batting gloves.

That's why you should call him Mavv--ree until he earns the right to rhyme with Favre.

Marve is a good QB...however, he is a one-read QB.

I thought Marve would have been a nice QB for Miami if A) he wasn't thrown into the fire as a coming-off-an-injury RSFreshman B) More mature and C) got time to develop because he has a lot to work on in his game, but the structure is there to be a nice QB, especially at a school like Purdue.

He also isn't the hardest worker...maybe that changed with some age.

Always a nice guy, to me and those that I know.

He's drawing high praise from Purdue coaches (one called him the best QB they've ever worked with) and has a shit ton of talent. The Miami situation was just as much off-field as it was on.

Jacory beat him out fair and square but he and Shannon just did not get along whatsoever. Given the relatively low expectations in Purdue, I'd say that he'll succeed. If he brings them a bowl win of any kind, he'll be a hero. Meanwhile, the Canes are trying to restore a dynasty. A bit more pressure on that end and as a young kid Marve couldn't, or didn't want to, handle it.

I think this has a lot to do with the fact that Tiller (who coached Brees and Orton) retired. Our new coach has had to deal with the guys I mentioned in the first post.

LOL at USC producing 3 good QBs and being "QB U."

Florida had a bunch of good QBs. Can we call UF "QB U" even if all but 1 are bagging groceries right now?

If you're going to put Booty, Cassel and Mustain on there, then I get way more than Grossman.

Just on par with those 3:
                        Noah Brindise
                        Jesse Palmer
                        Wayne Peace

Just a bit better than them:

                        Chris Leak
                        Shane Matthews
                        Terry Dean

                        Way better than those 3:

                        Tebow
                        Wuerrful
                        Spurrier

And I raise you a John Brantley for your Matt Barkley.

I think Purdue QBs have more combined NFL wins than QBs at any other school, but I also could have just made that up.

According to ESPN Marve tore his ACL today. This is after our starting RB tore his ACL and our starting first all Big 10 WR tore his ACL and MCL. And Marve also tore his ACL last year when he was redshirting.

He was scrambling backwards to avoid a sack and just went down in a heap untouched clutching his knee.

Marve's stat line 66-96 502 yards, 3 TD 4 INT through his first 4 games.
