    First Impressions: Ndamukong Suh

The latest football news, analysis, and rankings from PFF. Featuring data-driven rankings and stats for NFL, fantasy football, and the NFL Draft.

So it sounds like he played the 1, 3, and 5 technique and was used very similarly to how Haynesworth was in 2008.

That D-line is really pretty good though.

His calling Sammie Lee Hill a negative in 09 isn't true. The guy played pretty well considering the team around him and the fact that he was from Stillman college. He's a project, and Schwartz said he is making progess.

I know the Birds play the Lions this year, and any other year I would think its an easy win, but I am getting a different feeling from the Lions this year.

How good is your passing game? If the Eagles can throw the ball, you can beat us. Our secondary is absolutely terrible. The defensive line has looked good and shown they can get pressure on the quarterback, however it isn't going to happen every time.

Our offense at least has looked like it can score some points this year. I can see us getting in a few shoot outs as long as the offensive line does an ok job.

Well our o-line is shit, but Kolb is mobile so makes the throws downfield, so far thats what I have observed in pre-season. There are throws he is making that are legit, so he's got chops. Our running game is great, but the pass protection blows so far.

I like your QB Stafford, tough as nails and he's got talent. Ofcourse he's got Megatron and Pettigrew. Burleson may be a decent surprise and Best is a decent RB.

I don't think the Lions are the pushover team anymore, I think most teams will get into shootout with you guys.

From what PFF says the Eagles pass protection is one of their strengths with Jason Peters at LT and Winston Justice at RT.

Yea the tackles are fun, but our guard are shit so far. Herremens still hasn't full recovered from injury and so hasn't Nick Cole either. We got our backup Center in now, who's decent. But Stacy Andrews sucks, who is starting at RG right now. People are just crushing the interior of the line.

Lions have a top 10 defensive line. Suh gets double teamed every time hes in the middle and Vanden Bosch and Avril have took advantage of the 1 on 1 so far in the pre-season. The real steal is Corey Williams, the guy is huge and a work horse. Its amazing in 1 year we went from the d-line being the weakest part to the strongest.

You sound optimistic. That's good. So Suh's not looking like Glenn Dorsey 2.0 huh?

Suh is going to be a monster and more than likely a staple on the All-Pro team for many many years to come. He's one of those defensive tackles that instantly makes the rest of your line better due to all the attention he will command on the interior part of the line.

Quietly the Lions are putting together a nice looking team with a solid group of young talent.

Suh is an absolute beast and has already garnered quite a bit of respect from the opposition. He has been double-teamed in both games and has had two holding penalties called against him in two games. What we need Suh to do is make the rest of our defensive line relavent. If he is the one drawing the attention, then maybe Corey Williams, Cliff Avril/Turk McBride, and KVB can get to the Quarterback. Plus, he is just too physical and will get some sacks himself.

The only reason Corey Williams didn't do anything when he went to Cleveland was that they played him in a scheme not suited for him. He is a great pass rushing defensive tackle in the 4-3. He was a beast his last season in Green Bay. I expect him to play very well with all the attention on Suh in the interior of that line.
