And if Michigan happens to win their division they play OSU the following week. The final regular game all of a sudden doesn't mean as much.

      Purdue

      Michigan State

Makes more geographic sense and I don't think Ohio State and Michigan should ever play twice a season.

Yeah I don't know how they messed it up. Look at the ACC the master plan of setting divisions so FSU and Miami would play in the CG worked real well.

I have no complaints as long as OSU and TSUN play the last week of regular season every year, then who gives a fuck what division they are in, plus we could see the game happen twice.

Some have you have already read this, but I'll post it again. Here's my take on why this is the opposite of correct by the Big Ten.

Here's a map I made to show how the divisions should've been divided geographically. Sure, the line is crooked, but so is the line that divides the SEC in half by East-West. Nashville is further west than Auburn, but since the SEC isn't retarded, they didn't split up their marquee rivalry.

Crooked lines on a map > diminishing your most famous rivalry

Still not sure how I feel about this, it is definitely not the alignment I wanted to see. It makes Michigan-Ohio State a Conference Semi-Final game, but they could easily play back-to-back weeks. As for competitive balance, it looks like they looked at basketball just as much as football. Also, they have to rename the divisions.

I think its fine. Trying to make the divisions balanced matters much more than making them geographically correct. Fox Sports Detroit also said the divisions may not actually end up being named East and West.

That said there was noooooo way in hell Michigan and OSU ended up in the same division. Having no possibility of a michigan/osu championship game was NOT going to happen. I do dislike them playing twice, especially if the scheduled yearly game is still in November.

The division alignment doesnt effect anything but football.

But the scheduling could. The league is said to be favoring a switch to a 16 game schedule where they would play their division opponents 2x and crossover 1x each.

Michigan State has an easy ass schedule then, playing the likes of NW, Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan, and Iowa.

In the other division you have OSU, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, and Penn State. Horrifically unbalanced in basketball if this holds true.

Big Ten got this wrong because their primary motive was making money.

And no they didn't. See, every Big Ten fan who is angry right now. They chose the ACC model, which sucks, over the SEC model, which works.
