Dave sees Bill Simmons' top-32 QBs and raises him with his top-32 QBs (NFL)
Hasselbeck, Palmer, and Cutler are not better than Joe Flacco, not at this stage of their careers.
I'll just add your comments on him are spoken like someone who hasn't seen the Ravens play recently. They were a passing team last year, not a running team, and that will probably be even more true this year now that they have Boldin. So saying Flacco is just Trent Dilfer with a stronger arm is completely wrong.
Your entire list is based off what these players do in the post-season. If Trent Dilfer were a starting QB in the NFL today he would make your top 10 list.
Let's say Drew Brees never wins another playoff game. Would dave's ranking look so bad in hindsight? Everyone who wins a SB is always massively overated the next year. If Favre runs out of bounds for a 4 yard gain, and the Vikings go on to beat Indy, you'd have people putting Favre #1 and Brees around #10, and no one would blink. Brees had trouble performing in the clutch his entire career before last year. Every bounce and break went the Saints way. I think #4 is fair. Guy had a nothing resume for 8 yhears. He's no lock to repeat anything he did last year.

1. Basing a list off of 'what if's' is stupid and ridiculous. There was a point where Peyton couldn't win a playoff game. Then he started to and all of a sudden he's at the top of everyone's lists as he should be. Why should Brees be written off when he can start for another 5-10 years and is coming off his best season and a Superbowl winning season.
2. No I wouldn't. Brees isn't 40 going on 41 with a knee injury that will probably linger all season (it has been said he'll have the knee checked out every week). He also has had 2 good seasons in the past 5. Favre is erratic and inconsistent season in and season out.
3. Football is a team sport. Marino has done even less than what Brees has in the post-season. He lost a superbowl. Is Marino just some average QB. Basing the entire thing off of post-season is dumb. It should play a part but basing the ENTIRE thing off of post-season is not a real good way to put together a list.

I have no idea why you quoted me, because yhour rambling response had very little to do with what I wrote.
Dave you said that you based your rankings more on post-season than regular season yet you have Rodgers>Romo!? How does that make sense at all? Romo and the Cowboys got a playoff win last year, how is that NOT getting the playoff monkey off their backs? How did Rodgers season end last year? I know it wasn't after a playoff victory.
and Aso, just lol at your list. Rodgers is a top 5 QB after only two good seasons and no playoff wins? Is he going to be a solid QB for years to come? Probably. But top 5 already? You would take Rodgers> Rivers, Rapesomeone, and Favre? I just don't see it.

I think anyone who isn't blinded by homerism would take Rodgers over Romo. That was his first playoff game and he played pretty damn well. Also, Rodgers had a great season last year, not good.

Rodgers has had two very good seasons and if you compare the stats: Rodgers had a higher TD % and a lower INT % (actually leading the league in that stat). His completion percentage was higher and their ypa were the same. So statistically in Rodgers second season he's better than Romo. If you wanna talk about playoffs, is it Rodgers fault that the Green Bay defense gave up 45 points?
Rodgers has had only two good seasons? Romo has had only three good seasons. How many 'good seasons' does it take to be considered top 5? Is three the magic number?
You could put Rivers over Rodgers but I would take Rodgers over Favre and Roethlisberger, yes.

Not if your basing it off of playoff wins you don't take Rodgers>Romo.

Is it Romo's fault that the defense collapsed in 07 against the Giants? Or that the offensive line didn't block anything against the Vikings last year? When Dallas loses a playoff game or just a game in general, Romo gets all the blame. When the Packers lose, Rodgers gets no blame? Show some consistency.
There is no magical number to be considered top 5. I never said that I thought Romo was top 5, because I don't think he is, but I do think he is above Rodgers.

So the supporting cast that is put around each QB is a determining factor or which QB is better?

Well in Romo's loss the team scored 3 points, in Rodgers they scored 45. Little bit of a difference in the way each guy played there.
