I think Peterson could definitely be invited to New York. I think Kellen Moore might have something to say about the Heisman race.

We'll know Moore after tonight (get it?). But seriously, this is a showcase for him. If he plays well against a Bud Foster defense in an NFL stadium packed with Hokies fan, he'll be atop the list for the rest of the year.

If he plays poorly, whatever numbers he accumulates for the rest of the year will be met with an asterisk due to his competition.

I really like Kellen Moore and think he should make it to New York, but he's gotta take this opportunity by the balls.

Nice pun. I feel the same way, tonight really is Moore's chance to shine. I think success for him is 1-2 touchdowns and no interceptions. I don't expect a huge game out of him tonight, but if Boise gets the win, his Heisman hopes should be strong.

Also, I could see Jacory Harris being toward the top of the Heisman list. FAMU isn't a quality opponent, but if Miami wins the division, it will probably be because of his play. Again, it could come down to how he plays against Virginia Tech.

Last night a local TV guy on this CFB show said that Christian Ponder is the best QB in the state of FL and more of a Heisman contender than Jacory. I had to laugh at that.

Harris put together a much more impressive season, although he was inconsistent at times.

I don't see it in Ponder. But neither played a D1 FBS team so it's too early to say where either will stand when the Heisman picture starts to come together.

I thought Miami had the ACC wrapped up after their first two games last year, and they drifted off of that path quite a bit. They have a great foundation but for some reason they haven't quite clicked yet and gotten back to their peak.

from the eyes of a Rutgers fan, Mohamed Sanu could be a dark horse, and a very dark horse at that. he didn't get the ball as much as usual in the first game, but as the season goes on, he'll definitely get more than his fair share of targets and carries.

Can someone clue me in on why we're supposed to think Christian Ponder is good? Or are the standards for QB play in Tallahassee that low now?

He looked good, but it was Samford.

Last year Florida State went 3-1 without Ponder and only 4-5 with him, so I don't really get all the hype around him. He's only a borderline top 10 QB IMO.

Maybe by the end of the year I'll be wrong, but this is the worst crop of Heisman candidates that I can remember for a while.

                          Jake Locker!

No I'm kidding. Don't see why they had him as a candidate earlier or even a top pick in the draft. Poor mans Mike Vick. Not as good a runner, maybe slightly better passer.

I'm convinced you are watching a different Jake Locker to me.

I'm telling ya. He's going to be a bust in the NFL. Hate to say it cuz I'm a Husky fan but I just don't see him making it. Backup for life.
