It's not completely meaningless. To me College football is the one sport where it's not really "title or bust" I can watch games with absolutely zero title complications and be perfectly content.

For Georgia, VT and ND the rest of their year is about teaching young players and impressing recruits. They'll still have meaningful games, just not ones with title implications. I'm perfectly content with that.

But it would obviously be more exciting if they were actually playing for something more.

Nevermind the fact that more than half the teams can go undefeated and not win a title...or even play for one. What's the point? It's just downright stupid.

I still watched every second of Notre Dame last season..even when they were a 5 loss team at Stanford. Or a 4 loss team vs UConn. I was still upand pacing around yelling/cheering/cursing like the game meant something..regardless if it didn't. I know the game meant nothing in terms of title consideration...but it still meant something to me as a fan..and I was fapping over Golden Tate.

W2B, were you as pissed in 1999 and 2000 when undefeated Tulane and undefeated Marshall weren't given a chance?

And lets not lose sight of the fact thats sports are supposed to be entertaining. The college football postseason is sitting around for two months waiting for ONE GAME, while nobody watches or cares about the Wedontgiveashit.com Bowl from places like Mobile, Alabama and Tucson, Arizona.

Fill that two months with a playoff! How could anyone be against that? It would be amazing.

                Yes.

Ball St a few years ago, too.

Its not about who it is, it's about getting a legit postseason and legitimizing the sport.

Of course, just like I watch every snap of the Rams every year.

I'm talking big picture, not hardcore fandom.

Any playoff is better than "Let's pick two teams, and get it worng half the time anyway!"

No it's not. I'd easily rather see pre-BCS set up than most playoff ideas I see.

Ball State played a horrendous schedule that year: Northeastern, Navy, Akron, Indiana, Kent State, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Miami (OH), Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Buffalo and Tulsa.

Then why play at all, if you cant win the championship? What is the point?

And it supports my point that most college football games are pointless exhibitions.

I've yet to hear why college football is the only sport in the world where a playoff wont work.

Unless you support arbitrarily picking two teams in other sports too, gtfo. It's ridiculous.

Other sports don't allow the individual team to pick/pay their out of conference opponents though.
