    Why?

Because Denard Robinson played great the game before that, too. It's hard to gauge the progress of Michigan and Notre Dame because they played a good game against each other, but the two teams have been shit the past few years... Granted, as terrible a coach as Weis was, he was a great recruiter, so maybe Kelly's coached-up some of that talent. :dontknow:

If it's any consolation, the way SC's been playing you're gonna have no problems with earning bragging rights November 27th. Can't play defense against Hawaii and can't play offense against Virginia. Better get shit together for Minnesota.

You all talk about how shitty ND has been for the past 20 years and how they have no defense, but as soon as Denard Robinson does good against us you crown him and suddenly he is God?

Shit, Fraser played "Heisman Caliber" against us last year. So did every other Quarterback ND faced.

So can someone please explain this phenomena to me? According to everyone, ND sucks. So why is it that when they lose its such a huge suprise?

PS - Don't give me the "Notre Dame fans suck blah blah blah" talk because Irish, FirstTimer, me, padman, etc etc never talk any shit to anyone. We are all very rational ND Fans.

All I know is that you guys will never be a powerhouse again. No one wants to go to Cold ass Indiana when you come to go Florida and look at hot bitches and tits.

LOL, I haven't given Denard much credit. He's looked impressive, but he won't be playing the same against the Big Ten's elite.

        Someone explain this to me.

Notre Dame consistently has top recruiting classes, so you'd expect them to have top athletes. Yet their defense always looks like it's moving in slow motion, and this has been the case under multiple coaching regimes now. They ran into some blackleticism and looked mesmerized yesterday.

I asked yesterday in the chatbox and Irish told me ND doesn't recruit speed players (why not?) padman told me it's coaching (although I saw him blaming the cleats earlier).

BTW Fuck ND and their fans.

Oh yeah, he's from Hawai'i. Your logic is flawed. They have top ten recruiting classes.
Idk if Champ is really that stupid or just trolling, but it'll probably be in the best interest of your sanity to avoid responding to his stupid posts. He's turning into R2J.

Do you really need to ask this?

It's because it's Notre Dame. You are the Yankees, the Lakers, Duke. You either love Notre Dame, or you hate their fucking guts. So of course when people talk about them, it's always emotional, hyperbole filled exaggerations and such. They are the team everyone loves to hate.

And as far as yesterday, Michigan has been poop, can't beat anybody, Rich Rod has been a disaster, and they walked into your stadium with an unproven QB and looked like the vintage Pat White/Steve Slaton well oiled machine circa 2006 (or whatever year that was). That was an embarassing defensive effort, and people take great pleasure in watching Yankees/Duke/ND look like shit. It's amplified, because ND has been incredibly mediocre for a decade or so.

I missed this earlier. Unfortunately, it's true. You guys are probably the most rational fanbase representatives on VSN. At least I can take solace in the fact that the Bronco fans are generally irrational homers. :ionno: Speaking of idiots, whatever happened to SJ?

Exactly, and I'll add that most - not all - ND fans come across like cocky dickheads for no apparent reason at all other than the fact that they are "ND."

ND fans just rub me the wrong way, in the same way that Cowboys fans and Yankees fans rub me the wrong way. This thread and the "Official Notre Dame Football" thread are perfect examples of that. Only an ND/Cowboys/Yankees fans would make such threads. Fucking pricks.

Except Ohio State has one....The Giants have one...Michigan has one...The Colts...Purdue(which I think is more of a joke by KP)..West Virginia.....and that's just on the first page....

It also helps Robinson had 502 total yards!!!
You don't see performances like that too often

Last time I checked ND isn't some FCS team who we expect to get steamrolled by a as of late mediocre Michigan team. Regardless of how bad ND has been they're still ND and allegedly recruit top highschool players, so Robinson having 502 total yards comes as an eye opener.

As an Irish fan, Ill answer this from the inside looking out.

ND like W2BTD said, is a love/hate subject. Nobody I have met that follows sports is inbetween about ND. With that said any criticism that follows ND has to be looked at, which person is criticizing. Usually a person that hates ND won't give them any credit for anything they do. Usually goes like this, ND wins = soft schedule, ND loses = they suck and cant beat subpar teams. ND has way too many haters to try to get a solid idea on what people actually think about them.

I remember last year, I heard how much Clausen sucks for 3 years, then before Sam Bradford shot up the charts, Jimmy was being called the best QB in the draft and will go number 1 overall. I was surprised that the same people hating on Clausen for years are now saying he is the best QB. You won't get honest critique because of the ND hate.

Now why is there hate? ND gets attention even though they arent a power anymore in the BCS picture. ND has a large bandwagon fan base. The media wants to see ND come back and will constantly hype up the team. Id probably feel the same way as most if I wasn't a huge ND fan.

If it's any consolation, even being an SC fan, the Irish fans here make ND almost likeable... ALMOST.

In addition to everything that's already been said there's also the fact that ND's fanbase is easily one of the worst overall.

You got the people who claim they root for ND because they are part Irish.
Because they are catholic or because they grew up watching them (aka they watched 1 game a year as a kid and hopped on a bandwagon).

A lot of their fans couldn't find ND on a map, live no where near the school and are quick to root for a different school when college basketball rolls around but they'll swear they're the biggest ND fans alive. Only fanbase that even compares is the Miami football only fans who root for the U hoping some of the Swag runs off on them.
