Jackson’s suspension begins immediately. He is eligible for reinstatement beginning on September 22, 2011.

Statement by Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik:

"Tanard is a talented young man whom we hope is able to use this year to put his troubles behind him and ultimately return a stronger man and player.

Weed isn't an addictive substance though, don't worry.

Football players being suspended for weed is foolishness. Id rather these guys smoke a joint after getting beat up for 60 minutes then pop pain killers and get addicted to that shit.

So far I have seen 1000x's improvement over last year. However, I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid just yet. It was Carolina and Cleveland. Plus, Freeman's decision-making is much better, but, I am still waiting to see what he does against a unit like Pittsburgh. This team could easily go out and get rolled by Pittsburgh and put up a dud against the Bengals defense. Zimmer has that group playing very well right now.

Definitely can be a statement game for us, even in a losing effort or it could be a heavy dose of reality. This T-Jax news is disheartening though.

I was pissed when the Titans didn't draft him when he was available a few years ago.

That's all I can add to this.

I believe this is his third offense. Next violation = NFL Ban.

If these boys want to smoke weed, let them. As long as they can pass their physicals and conditioning tests, no team should be concerned with what else goes on.

They put their bodies through hell, isn't it clear that most, if not all, football players who smoke weed are self-medicating for pain and or emotional distress (see Ricky Williams)? I get that it's an insurance thing, can't have your star athlete risking jail time, which brings me to my next point.

Legalize it. Now. Fuck football players getting suspended over some reefer. He's a fucking professional football player, he trains for 6 hours a day for 8 months out of the year, it's obvious that he's not lazy. Why can't proven productive members of society smoke weed again? Anyone got an answer other than "because it's illegal"?

I agree whole heartedly but if I was skillful enough to be a starting NFL whatever I would follow whatever company policy that was in place (within reason) if it afforded me tens of millions of dollars to play a kids game. I simply dont understand how one cannot stop smoking weed, especially someone who has so much to lose.

It's not really a kid's game. Even once you reach college...I agree he should have been able to stop...or at least do a better job of hiding it. A lot of NFL players end up with dementia. But that is another thing I guess. But as said...legalize weed...and he could be doing a lot worse anyways.
