    defenseless player penalties

they are getting out of hand. i know the nfl is trying to protect players, but its really getting beyond ridiculous.

bengals at browns today. browns pass over the middle. Player has his back to the DB....jumps to make the catch. He catches it in the air. On his way down the DB put a clean shoulder hit to the WR upper back shoulder area.

The bengals DB gets called for un-necessary roughness, hitting a defenseless receiver

im a browns fan and i thought this was a joke of a call. what is the DB supposed to do? not try and tackle the WR? wait for him to land before applying a hit? I just dont get this kind of BS call.

NFL officials are just terrible to begin with. this kind of shit just makes them look worse

You're not talking about the hit on Shipley, are you? Cuz that looked pretty dirty to me.

I watched the game, I forget what other hit you're talking about but I agree that it is getting out of hand.

      Guys can't even tackle anymore.

The hit on Shipley was a bang-bang play, but it was still a cheap shot IMO. The ball had been knocked away, and the defender leaves his feet to launch himself into Shipley's head/face. I don't know about the refs throwing a flag, but I do understand why the Bengals would be upset.

By the way, Maynard's description of this event is ridiculous. I think we had better eyewitnesses to Alien Autopsies and Loch Ness Monster encounters.

No, it was a Bengals pass over the middle.

No, the player was facing the DB, but looking back at the ball.

No, the player kept running to make the catch. He never jumped.

No, the ball was batted down before it ever got to the player.

No, the player was never "on his way down". The DB left his feet to hit the player.

No, not even close. The DB hit the player in the face. Not the "upper back shoulder area".

i would groan you for your fail, but its such an epic fail that the feeling of making an ass out of yourself will out do the groan.

its clear you read my description. i am not talking about the TJ ward hit on Shipley in the end zone. That happened in the 4th and was a call that should have been made. it also turned a 4th down into a 1st down and gave the bengals a TD on the next play

i am talking about this play
2nd and 8 at CLE 47 (No Huddle, Shotgun)
S.Wallace pass short middle to B.Watson to CIN 32 for 21 yards (C.Ndukwe). PENALTY on CIN-C.Ndukwe, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at CIN 32.

this play gave the browns the ball at the 32, borderline FG range....with the penalty they were given the ball at the 17 and sure make of a FG

BTW, your detective work didnt tell you that i posted this at 243, right around half time. The Ward hit came late in the 4th which would be sometime around 345-4 pm.

          dont quit your day job

the nfl highlight is further proof of the horrible official ting in this game. the 1st TD pass to moore. they called unsportsmanlike conduct on the browns cause they said 2 guys jumped into the crowd when it was clear only Moore did.

then later you see Hillis TD run. Its totally clear that Vickers the FB is moving forward before the snap...no call made. This game was also full of interference by browns DB's.....at least 3 no calls.

As a browns fan i think this game was called in our favor bigtime. Bengals lost by 3 and u wonder how it would have gone if the officials called things correctly

If there's one thing I'd do if I was a Browns fan, its not bitch about the refs after a W.

Officials and non-calls can not be blamed for a team to lose. Unless they called a penalty on one team, every snap... .

We can sit and nitpick and pull out hundreds of plays this week where no call was made and should have been, and vice versa. But just like teams have bad days, I'm sure officials have some off days and call too many or too few penalties.

The only real solution is... you quit being a Browns fan.

not everyone likes to do it the belichick way. Most players, coaches and fans just want to see a fair game called. as a pats fan i know thats a hard concept to understand when cheating is a staple for your teams success
