Blount gave an interview with Rick Stroud of the St Pete Times about his "punching incident" while at Oregon. Per Blount, he heard from the last two Buccaneer head coaches - Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden.

Blount provided details of Gruden's message:

“Look, bro, I’m sure Tony told you this is some freakin’ challenge from the Lord that you’re supposed to rise up to meet. But I’m just callin’ to tell you I understand that sometimes you gotta smack a mother fuc*er in the mouth, and that’s football. You just did it after the fuc*n whistle. Jimminy Christmas, I love that sh*t, but this is the 21st century, man, the camera’s on and you gotta dial it back. I wanna punch Jaws in the head during the commercials, but I can’t because it’ll show up on fuc*n YouTube. You know what I’m sayin’?”

That's why Jon Gruden is a BAMF. Too bad he was unjustifiably fired and can't coach a player like Blount who has shown loads of promise here in Tampa.

Gruden should just dial his real life attitude down a notch, eliminate the profanity, and bring that to the booth.

The persona he brings to MNF is weird and unsettling. An uncomfortable combo of tell it like it is, and unbridled ass kissing.

It has to make you wonder iif its an ESPN directive to ass kiss in the booth. The old SNF crew was the worst announce team in sports history because of this.

Yes. Classic Gruden. Guy is intense, but, he also loves the game of football and loves coaching and breaking down film. He rents office space at the St Pete Times Forum aka Ice Palace (home of the Tampa Bay Lightning) and just breaks down film each day he is in town, helps with his son's prep team at Carrollwood Day School and recently was ejected from his son's game for arguing with the officials. So, that's his real personality. He is a great guy, but, he loves to compete and that is what makes him a little "off-color."

Of course it is. It's ESPN's cash cow, so they try and stay away from any negative press about the NFL. Look at their current stance on the Favre situation and how they handled Big Ben's ordeal. Completely different coverage if these sort of things happened to an NBA or MLB player.

Add in the fact that Gruden is basically interviewing for a job every single game he commentates.

Sincere apologies guys. The story was sent to me in an email. I guess the quote was a joke. However, it was inserted into the story as if it was fact. So I went with b/c, knowing Gruden a little bit - it sounded just like him. Really didn't mean to post a bullshit story...my bad lol.
