Packers Nick Barnett and Jermichael Finley to have surgery

Notes from Mike McCarthy's Monday press conference:

LB Nick Barnett (wrist) and TE Jermichael Finley (knee) will have surgery in the coming days. It is [not] known whether either is season-ending. McCarthy said he would be surprised if Finley's surgery is season-ending.

With Barnett, they won't know if he can return until they are in there and doing the surgery.

Aaron Rodgers will miss at a minimum some practice time this week. McCarthy acknowledged he could miss the next game.
    Well, this sucks.

All 3 Packers that I drafted in fantasy have gone down with injury.

His press conference was a fucking joke as usual. I've never seen a person say so little in the amount of time his conference's are.

      "I can't get into specifics"
"Yeah we have a special practice for that"
"We will address that this week"

I'm starting to hate this mfer.

My friend just ran into Finley's agent at Applebee's. He said that Finley will have surgery in the coming days. He said it is not known whether it is season-ending. He said McCarthy said he (McCarthy) would be surprised if Finley's surgery is season-ending.

If this season goes down the tubes after all the hype, and with McCarthy calling these shitty offensive games, I can't imagine he keeps his job. (At least not with guys like Gruden and Cowher out there)

The sad thing is that even with all these injuries we should EASILY be 5-0. McCarthy has to be the worst 2nd half coach of all-time.

I'm no medical genius, but I would assume with any kind of surgery a player has got to miss at least a month.

Quarless should be a good player for you Packers fans. He was always in the doghouse at PSU but has tremendous talent.

I agree with Quarless and hopefully taking all the #1 TE snaps in practice this week will help him get comfortable with the offense. He obviously won't be the kind of weapon Finley is right away, but eventually I expect him to get there.

I'm not nearly as worried about these injuries as I am about Matthews and Rodgers. Apparently the hamstring isn't nearly as serious as it was in preseason where he missed a month. But any time missed by him really really hurts the defense.

And there is a lot of speculation that Rodgers initially sustained the concussion on the QB sneak play in the second quarter. If this is true and he played with the concussion the timetable for return has to be longer than a game.

This is why I think TT needs to bring in DeAngelo or another established RB NOW. I think they can win a game or 2 with Flynn at QB if the Packers have a legitimate running game. If Flynn has to throw it up 40+ times like Rodgers has this season, there is just no chance.
